Product Description

From the Back Cover

All she wanted was a baby. Was that so much to ask? A baby to nourish in her body, to give birth with pain and pleasure, to adore. A baby to suckle and care for, to clean and cuddle and comfort. A baby to make her whole and complete. But her womb was empty and its emptiness filled her days and her nights, invaded her dreams, determined every waking thought. A baby. All she wanted was a baby…

Jane Asher's first novel is a gripping realisation of a desire that becomes an obsession, an agony that changes the lives of everyone who is touched by it…

Although this book is beyond anything I have ever experienced I could perfectly empathise with the main characters. It is easy to see how the endless worries over infertitlity could destroy a relationship and take you to the brink of insanity. Asher brilliantly depicts the emotional turmoil the couple go through and unlike anything else I have ever come across, the man's feelings are also dealt with superbly. I cried a great deal when reading this novel but it was worth every tear. Read it even if you have no experience of the issues it deals with - but have a box of tissues at the ready!

I never enjoyed reading a book as much as I did this one - I took it with me on holiday to Gran Canaria and read it within 3 days and a bit on the plane getting there. It really engulfs you from the very start - I found it a bit irritating going backwards and forwards but I can see the authoress did that for better effect. Loved it and will read again in the near future. Being in holiday mood I thought I would forget the the names of the characters but not at all - the nice surroundings complimented the heartache involved.

I have never read any of Jane Asher's books before and wasn't sure what to expect but it was excellent, very well written too. I have just started on The Question and hope this one is as good. I could empathise with all the characters and they jumped out as very real. More please.
