Product Description

Product Description

Conrad Valmont (Jason Bateman, Juno, Horrible Bosses) is the over-educated, under-employed heir to the Valmont Hotel fortune. Though he s spent most of his adult life enjoying a playboy lifestyle on a diet of Tom Collins cocktails, at 40 years old, he finds himself suddenly cut off from his allowance and tossed out into the unforgiving streets of the Upper West Side. Luckily, he is taken in by his old friend Dylan (Billy Crudup, Eat Pray Love, Watchmen), and returns the favour by immediately falling for Dylan's beautiful girlfriend, Beatrice (Olivia Wilde, In Time, Rush). A hilarious love triangle ensues as Conrad attempts to woo Beatrice all over the city in secret. All s fair in love and war, right? That is, until she finds out he s completely broke...and Dylan finds out his best friend has stolen his girl.

I found this to be one of those films where the director is clearly enjoying himself with 'arty' filmography, but the storyline was boring and not many characters were involved. I can imagine this being produced as a play in a local theatre to better effect. There were several instances where commentary was used as in Woody Allen films, but in this film I found it annoying rather than enlightening. This disc will be one for the charity bag.

Good service as always. The film itself is poor. It's boring. I like Jason Bateman but I would sit through this again. I watched is where I leave you around the same time and that is great so spend your money on that instead

The Longest Week is a great film. It is a gentle and romantic tale of a man coerced by circumstances to re-appraise the meaning of his life. It is set in New York City and New York State, and is beautifully-filmed. It is loquacious and eloquent. It is philosophical and comical. It is romantic and dramatic. Conrad (Jason Bateman) seeks assistance, in his dilemma, from his friend Dylan (Billy Crudup), whilst deceiving him with Beatrice (Olivia Wide). Outstanding acting, and touching story. Great sound-track. Released in 2013. Award 5 Stars.

Conrad Valmont (Jason Bateman) is a rich man almost 40 "easing into adulthood." He wants a relationship but has trouble with them. Then out of the blue, his parents while away, opt to get divorced and he is cut off because...he is. He rooms with a friend (Billy Crudup) and steals his prospective girlfriend Beatrice (Olivia Wilde). He tells neither of them of his financial situation, letting them think he is still rich. He has no trouble lying, stealing, borrowing, and being a general A-hole.

The movie has a monologue to fill in plot points and some theme ideas. It has some minor comedy such as when Beatrice claims she is a vegetarian not because she loves animals, but hates vegetables. The dialogue appears to be the film's strong point, although it was overly pretentious, as was the film. The film is critical of people being pretentious and those who say they are pretentious, perhaps done as a way to be critical of the great Romantic novelists or those who inherit their wealth or all those critics who are going to say this was a pretentious film.

There are scenes that are similar to what you might see in a Woody Allen film, but are second rate.

the worst Jason Bateman film i've seen, mainly because all the others are very good. Olivia Wilde does her best, but it's a slow film. Amusing moments, but there are better ways to spend 90mins.
