Descriptions, pictures & presentation are all great.
I marked at least 75% to try!
Results however have been mixed. I have only tried about 8 so far & some have worked superbly well whilst others don't seem to have been tested properly, giving only mediocre (& therefore disappointing) results.
I noticed at the back that many people had contributed recipes - so maybe that is the reason.
I know that some recipe books are thoroughly tested many times before they are published & I think that this book would benefit massively from that - as I'm sure it would become a classic.
Because of this I have given it only 4 stars - though I would still highly recommend it.

BUY THIS, you will not regret it. Great recipes together with fantastic photos.
The book is designed around it's title. What can be more comforting than the idea of curling up with a delicious bowl of food next to a log fire? As with many other Rylands, Peter & Small books the photography is gorgeous and completely evocative of the theme. The recipes all sound delicious, and seem simple. Those I have tried have been utterly delectable. I can't wait to try more - infact I'm having people over simply to cook from it!
The book is divided into the following chapters:
