Product description

Product Description

3 June 2013 sees Husky Rescue release their fourth album The Long Lost Friend on El Camino Records. This will be preceded by the single Tree House 20 May just after their show at The Great Escape. Inspired by main man Marko Nyberg getting back in touch with his best friend after 15 years the band has called their fourth album The Long Lost Friend . After the release of 2010 s Ship of Light producer Marko decided to strip the band right down and start afresh. Having met the intriguing Swedish vocalist Johanna Kalén in Stockholm and loving her utterly beautiful voice, he then drafted in his English friend, and honourary Finn, Anthony Bentley. Having written a bunch of new songs they decamped to Brooklyn, Berlin, Stockholm and Porvoo to record, finishing up back in Helsinki. Opening gently with Restless Feet and Under Friendly Fire the album takes you through to Mountains Only Know , the title track The Long Lost Friend culminating in the hard-edged motorik gospel groove seven and a half minute version of the single Tree House which has some strong hints of Shakira s Waka Waka would you believe. In a departure from their long term graphic illustrator Kustaa s usual style, and in honour of all Long Lost Friend s , the album art features a timeless, rather melancholy, illustration based on Portrait of a Youth by Flemish painter Michiel Sweerts (1618 1664). Between 2004 and 2010, Husky Rescue released three full-length albums and a remixes/rarities compilation, as well as a plethora of singles and EPs on UK s Catskills Records.Husky Rescue have been consistently covered in Pitchfork, Q, NME, The Times, The Guardian, Daily Telegraph (Album of the Week), Mojo, Artrocker, Clash, Sunday Times (CD of the Week) etc...Husky Rescue have played at Lollapalooza, Glastonbury, Austin City Limits and toured extensively in the UK and Europe, as well as the US. Live 16th May - Brighton The Great Escape 10th June - London Hoxton Bar & Kitchen.
