The main character Greg Heffley is a 6th grade student who more than anything wants to become popular, which is usual characteristic of kids his age. Greg writes his diary which is published in same way he wrote it in his notebook, full of humorous text and even funnier pictures.
Greg lives in an ordinary family with his parents and two brothers, the older Rodrick who is heavy metal fan and younger Manny, who is whiny kid. Greg’s best friend is Rowley Jefferson, boy of Greg’s age with annoying parents who due to their bothering make Greg's parents looking like the best in the world.
Because of his everlasting desire to be cool, Greg is all the time pursuing some funny tasks like trying to enter Guinness Book and what is also usual, Greg is all the time victim of older boys who find him always at the wrong place and time…
The only thing Greg manages to do successfully is acting as guard for kindergarten children escorting them during lunch that is great opportunity to at least get free chocolate and skip part of math class…
In this latest installment Greg together with his family will embark on the trip in van. And hitting the road has never been more fun.Read more ›
The long haul is about a family who decide to go on a road trip, but everything that could go wrong does. It made me laugh out loud sometimes as it was very funny and the whole road trip idea was an ultimate disaster!
Diary of a wimpy kid is an amazing book; you can’t get enough of it! I am a huge fan of this book series by Jeff Kinney and I own many of his books: Rodrick Rules, Dog Days, Cabin Fever, Old School etc. When I saw this one coming out, I knew I just had to buy it.
This book is extremely funny and is suitable for all children aged 7-13. Bearded men, annoying brothers and lots more guarantee a chuckling reader. Moreover, it has many pictures so it doesn’t take long to read (It only took me a day I was so interested).
As well as that, this book includes an extract from the next book and has exclusive bumper stickers included for the reader. There are altogether 9 stickers, each from a scene in the book.
I think what he did was abandoned all of the static characters he had relied on for cheap yuks and instead focused on Greg interacting with his family as they go on a road trip -- an awful, chaotic, hilarious road trip.
You could read ths book solo, but I think the series is with the time and money. These are fast reads for adults, fun reads for kids, and funny reads for all.
