Other reviews have covered my problems with this book:
* Outdated information
* Dangerous suggestions
* Underestimated hiking times
* Very few short hikes for day-hikers
There is very little in here you can't work out just by using Google Maps at home, and with the horrendous inaccuracies in the book I can't help but feel this is what the writers have done. I realise that updating a book that would take a whole year to actually hike might take a whole year, but off you go; do the hikes. That's what we're paying the purchase price for: your expertise.
The idea is that you do these things then tell us about them so that the information is accurate. That's why guidebooks are supposed to be written by experts. Instead Lonely Planet are putting out more and more books which are just not-very-updated versions of rehashes of inaccurate, outdated, and downright incorrect books from well over ten years ago. Obviously it's cheaper that way, but really it's just a swindle, isn't it folks?
