Format: Paperback
If your stay is short and this is your first visit, it's a good idea to stick closely to the beaten tourist trails as marked down by Lonely Planet. Topped and tailed by their standard guidance on what to expect as a visitor to the country there is a reliable core of guidance and information which would form the basis of a rewarding first visit to Edinburgh, together with more wide-ranging sketches of outlying areas as far afield as the Borders. The Edinburgh guide is fairly recent, having been first published in 1999 and so most of the associated information on accommodation and where to eat is well up-to-date.

5.0 out of 5 stars Great book and major overhaul 8 Feb. 2002

Not only is this book witty, it covers all the city sights and is very useful. This book is written by a different author from the first edition and the change is phenomenal. This book is definitely recommended - the colourful festivals section is totally cool.
