A book that is extremely difficult to put down, so much so, I read it in one go!
A thoroughly interesting story with great characters and a powerful message about the way many of us live in our modern, fast paced world.
The author has a real gift in making characters and situations believable and sets each scene superbly well.
I thoroughly enjoyed this book and would recommend to all ages. As the reader, you become immersed in the story and whilst there are a number of interesting characters, it never becomes confusing and is brought to a close with real skill - pulling all strands together in an innovative way - whilst giving the reader plenty to think about.
Heart-warming but thought provoking at the same time. Made me re-assess not only the time I spend with loved ones but also the quality of that time. The irony that I was literally glued to my kindle reading this during a half term holiday with my children was not lost on me, and this limited my reading time to when they had gone to bed (or were glued to the tv!).
What starts out as an apparently simple story about childhood experiences becomes a more critical look at how we change as we ‘develop’ into young adulthood and start to mimic the attitudes and behaviours of our parents, adopting their values which seemed so ridiculous to us as children. I am now back at work after the half-term break reading this book and feeling like a bit of a lonely robot at my desk in a large global corporation......
A thought-provoking read about the dangers of modern life - corporate greed, money before love and isolation.
This is a well-written story with great characters - good and bad - and a plot, which is chilling in parts. It has life lessons and a strong moral compass, if you are willing to take note..and a twist.
The idea of AI can be scary and we all understand our reliance on machines. One robot's quest is intriguing and heartfelt in this unusual tale. Robert's story is both disturbing, as it highlights some of today's parenting, and hopeful.
A mix of messages that culminate into a warning; who among us will listen and change? Themes of love, friendship, good v evil and technology make this a great read.
Loved the story as I am sure most will, it had some words of wisdom about not living to work or play with technology but live for life and friendships which is worth remembering in today's fast paced world. It was well told funny in parts taking a light humor to modern society and emotional when needed, all in all a lovely tale.
I bought this book for my 11yr old son, my wife picked it up first and couldn't put it back down, much to the annoyance of my son. People all wrapped up looking at their phones and tablets and not seeing the world around them nor engaging with other people or more importantly their family. This book sends a message to spend more time with, and listening, to our family members, especially our children. Life is too short to miss out on these moments.
I purchased this book for my ten year old Grandson Zak. He couldn’t stop reading it. He is a very avid reader and cannot recommend this book The Lonliest Robot.
An excellent book. The storyline is well constructed with interesting characters and its message warns us of the danger of blindly chasing success. I particularly enjoyed the amusing Corporate anecdotes which are sadly so true. A must read for those about to make their way in the world and for those who already on the treadmill.
