5.0 out of 5 stars The daring and resourceful Masked Rider of the Plains led the fight for law and order in the early western United States! 2 Sept. 2010
By MadMikeyD - Published on
Format: Hardcover
"Scorched Earth" collects issues #12-16 of Dynamite's Lone Ranger series. Someone has been torturing and killing young women and the local sheriff recruits the Lone Ranger and Tonto to help him find the murderer.

Brett Matthews presents us a Lone Ranger still growing into his role as the west's greatest hero. He's learning what his new role is, and he's not quite comfortable in it, but he's doing what he knows to be right. We are also given a peek into the psyche of our villain, Butch Cavendish, and get an idea of what made him the man he is. Sergio Cariello's art is still amazing and continues to really tell the story. The Lone Ranger series continues to receive my highest recommendation.

1.0 out of 5 stars Really bad comic 21 July 2010
By danny boy - Published on
Format: Hardcover
You know, the Lone Ranger and Tonto are iconic creations in comics culture. So I picked up this nicely minted hardcover book and expected a decent revival of their adventures.

I am sorry to state that the artwork here is just plain awful. Truly amateurish drawings with disproportionate figures of varying scales in the same frame, shrinking heads and hands. There are panels where it looks like the artist tried to draw like Joe Kubert (traced???) and there are whole sections neatly covered with black ink to presumably cover up the ugly drawings. How could one even get into the plot?

This comic is a joke!
