London, the capital and heart of Britain, is an exciting and constantly developing city. "London Then and Now" explores London's landscape, past and present, through the eye of the camera. Some 70 historic photographs of London's past are paired with specially commissioned contemporary views taken from the same vantage point. In spite of wartime damage and postwar planning, so many of the buildings that characterise London still remain. The book features the fascinating vistas of London that have changed little and some that have changed radically, from the regeneration of the south bank, the docklands in the east to the transformation of a power station into Tate Modern.Part of the bestselling "Then and Now" series, this charming contrast of old and new photographs highlights the stunning changes - and the equally amazing similarities - of one of the most loved cities in Britain, its well-known places but also some of the hidden gems.It features the Britain's capital city 'then' - with archive photography - and 'now'.The title features the changing vistas of London along the River Thames; fascinating details of what remains and what has disappeared; and a wonderful visual guide to London from the 19th century to the present day.

Print quality is good, and care has been taken to select some unusual subjects as well as the more obvious London sights, and even for the well-known ones, the views are often different to the ones seen on other old London compilations, so this book can stand alone as a good cross section of old and new London, but can also be added to a collection of books of old London photos with little duplication.
The book is called"London Then & Now"", and that really sums it up.
What you get is ,on the left page of the book,a black &white photo from the past and on the right page of the book ,a colour photo of the moment. All photos are taken from the same angle,so you can really see how it is developed.
It's a book not only of buildings and tourist stuff, but also of normal streetlife.
With the pictures , there is a comment of how it used to be and how it is now.A good book for everyone who loves London.
