This map is brilliant if you like exploring central London by foot, since it shows all the little alleyways and footpaths between roads. For example, just behind the V&A museum is a dead-end road called Princes Gate Mews, but this map shows that if you are on foot, an alleyway takes you behind Holy Trinity church and onto the main Brompton Road. It's little things like this that make this map indispensible.
The map also includes an underground map on the rear cover, though this does not extend to the outer London suburbs.
My advice - buy it and plan a walk through the back streets and alleyways of London!
The main map itself is full colour and very easy to read. When fully opened it is about 400mm x 600mm (16 inches by 24inches). On the main map the principal roads are shown in yellow with minor roads in white, parks in green, rivers in blue etc. It is absolutely packed with information (every street is named) but it is so well designed that it is easy to read and it is never confusing or unclear. It shows all the underground and surface stations and each one is clearly identified.
Underneath the main map there are three separate maps of popular areas. These are (a) the main shopping streets (Oxford Street, Regent Street etc.), (b) the West End (cinemas and theatres) and (c) Greenwich (Maritime Museum and Park). Beside each map is a list of popular addresses and phone numbers. For example beside the West End Map there is a list of the cinemas and threats names with phone numbers – very useful.
On the other side of the map sheet there is a list of every street name in London with the corresponding map reference so you can find it easily on the main map.
Overall this map is a must for anybody who is visiting London and does not know the way around too well. It is quick and easy to use and light and convenient to carry. I paid less than £2 for it on Amazon and it can only be considered a great bargain at that price.
but ... fot the rest of the trip in the city, was a good help ...
