Review

"The authors have packed a vast trove of fact and lore, of hot tips (free tango “taster” lessons in Spitalfields) and even hotter tip-offs (antique fetish gear in Covent Garden). This is London, but perhaps not as you know it." (Anthony Sattin Sunday Times)

"Just in time for Valentine’s Day 2013, here’s a guide to romantic London. And if you’ve ever wanted a cheat sheet for arranging dates in the capital, this is it" (Londonist)

Was given this book by a friend and read it in one sitting - learned so much about London - not just cool places to go, but the book is also full of amazing stories about London, beautiful photos, and I love the letterpress design. Definitely going to get out there and start exploring - with or without a lover!

Lots of ideas for first dates, as well as for people who have lived in London for a long time, but stopped discovering it. There should be a book like this for every city.

A really lovely book full of great ideas for London trips and activities, whether you're a stranger to the city or have lived here for years...and whether you're with or without a lover. Unusually for a guide book it's beautifully and stylishly designed, so would make a great gift. The book balances practical information with fascinating background detail, without going too heavy on either. Beautiful photos too. Would heartily recommend.

I bought this as a Valentine's gift and it was so well-thumbed by the time I'd finished reading it I had to buy another!

Beautifully presented, this captivating guide is redolent of Virginia Woolf's 'Mrs. Dalloway', eloquently evoking the life of the flaneur.

London for Lovers features some well-known London landmarks but also many less familiar, all wrapped up in bite-size tours and detours.

A must-have for any London visitor, with or without a lover.

I wanted to take my husband out for his birthday on a romantic walk. I used this book as a starting point for inspiration rather than following the exact walks. However there were some good suggestions from the book. Nice to read. I would just recommend checking walking /transport routes and opening times online before leaving to ensure that your planned walk goes well.

I was given this book by my wife as a stocking filler at Christmas as we both love to spend days exploring London. It has quite quickly become my favourite present!

On occasions when friends or family visit from outside London and ask to visit central we are inflicted with having to spend a day mooching around Covent Garden or Leicester Square. It seems to us that a lot of tourists feel safest in those well trodden areas, and are in fact averse to exploring further. For us London is so much more than these tourist traps, and this book perfectly encapsulates some of the (dare I say trendier) places to see.

We like to go into London most weekends and we always try to find something new to do, often referring to Time Out as a guide of current events. Now we like to carry this book with us (in a rucksack, it's too big for a pocket). I've loved flicking through finding new things to do in places I thought I already knew. It's even better when you find something in there that you already know about, it's like an affirmation of your explorative skills.

It does require some knowledge of London, or at least the ability to cross reference with a map if you're new to London. This hasn't been a problem for us, and quite honestly if a book were to contain all you needed to know then it would both steal part of the magic of finding it yourself, plus it would need to be encyclopedic in size.

A perfect book for Lovers in (and of) London who like to explore the city away from the tourist hot spots.

First up, this book isn't just for lovers, obvious as that may seem. Yes, every little adventure is great 'a deux' but they all seem pretty appealing with a pal as well, or even on your own. This is basically a beautiful guide to hidden London. The design is fab too - looks GREAT. I love the letterpress printing and the photographs are fantastic. This is a perfect gift for anyone who lives in London or for a tourist thinking of paying a visit who maybe wants to do something a little less obvious.

You, your soul-mate and this entirely enchanting guide would make the perfect threesome for exploring London's myriad delights. Fascinating details abound about places and activities, many of them little known even to Londoners, to suit your mood and tempo. Even if you are staying in together rather than going out, you will still enjoy the read!

Very useful as an alternative guide book for regular visitors to London but a bit cumbersome to walk around with.
