Of all the bands that achieved some level of profile and notoriety arising from the great 'College Radio' boom in the USA in the 1980s, one of my very favourite acts was Game Theory. They were essentially a vehicle for the singer/songwriter Scott Miller, who sadly passed away in April, 2013 - apparently prone to depression, he took his own life, at the age of fifty-three. 'Lolita Nation' is not perhaps the first album you should get if you want to explore the GT sound. That would be 'The Big Shot Chronicles', which is yet to be reissued by Omnivore at the time of writing this review (April 2016). 'Lolita Nation' is an at times dense affair, featuring whole songs interspersed with shards of other songs and bits of instrumental work. It's a truly kaleidoscopic listen, shifting gears, musical shapes and tone and mood. It can also be frustrating at times, too, and as such it is challenging. At it's best, though, 'Lolita Nation' is a thrilling, exhilarating listen that offers up different facets with each listen. Omnivore have done a truly splendid job on the GT reissues - I have the double green vinyl edition of this, and there's a ton of great bonus material available via a download card. Keep an eye out for when 'Big Shot Chronicels' is available again, get the 'Real Nighttime' set, but then get this - a wonderful album from a very talented writer and band, who deserved more success than he / they got. Scott Miller RIP - you were loved.

I will never be able to convey how superb this double album is.
Artistic, melodic, imaginative, memorable, breathtaking, glorious....it's beyond anything most people will ever hear, do or find.
Had to get 2 copies of this masterpiece... in my humble universe it's every bit as important as pet sounds, smile, murmur or daydream nation. For those of you who know game theory already, you'll already be all over this. For anyone else, get it, get one for a friend, get one for a family member. Some day they will thank you for it.
Thank you Scott Miller & Game Theory for some of the best music ever made past, present & future.
