4.0 out of 5 stars Good read, interesting mix of retelling of myth and new adventure 7 Nov. 2014
By The Elf - Published on Amazon.com
Format: Paperback
It's an interesting tale; a mix of old and new. The primary character (first person) is Loki - that Loki. The story starts with him in the cave, where he is finally being freed. As he rejoins the other Gods in Asgard - some of whom are reluctant to welcome him - he remembers the past (telling some familiar stories from his point of view) and has adventures in the present through the realms. I don't want to give away too much, but my favorite part is a contest of wills against Heimdall. There's also a great funny scene where a drunk Loki gets picked up by modern police, and the commissioner charging him gets a look at his rap sheet!

This is the first novel by Foslan, and a great first effort. I look forward to reading more from the author.

5.0 out of 5 stars Simply Marvelous! 10 Sept. 2015

I *highly* recommend this novel for anyone interested in the Norse Gods/ Ásatrú. It is truly a saga, in which the characters are revealed in highly entertaining episodes. Reading these familiar stories, through the eyes of Loki was quite an experience!

Foslan writes a truly nuanced and well-researched tale. I found myself laughing often, but it also made me think. I am already looking forward to re-reading it!

4.0 out of 5 stars An interesting retelling 21 Mar. 2015

A good story
Loki is every man and woman. He is everything else too. His murder of Baldur is absolutely necessary.
5.0 out of 5 stars A good read. 2 July 2016

Much better than most of the Loki-based novels I've been reading since getting hooked on this Norse god. The author writes a Loki who can be petty and mischievous (sometimes even vindictive), but is also extremely powerful, if capricious. But what do you expect from the God of Fire? Fire can create AND destroy -- and Loki is one of the three creator gods in this novel. The other gods, particularly Heimdall and the little known Forseti are also very well rounded characters. Odin is also portrayed well as Loki's blood-brother and ruler of the gods. The storyline draws heavily on the mythology (through flashbacks), with some interesting twists (one that I didn't see coming but found very satisfying). I really enjoyed this!
