I just grabbed one of these on a daily discount to use with our new Panasonic TX50CX680B TV. The TV itself recognised the keyboard and I was able to use the keyboard and touchpad to navigate around the TV apps menus etc. with no problem at all. Soon as you touch the touchpad, a cursor appears on screen. So the TV has no problem providing keyboard and mouse support. But apps are another matter.

The built in browser worked just fine, and so for the first time was actually usable (try typing URLs or searches using the remote control to navigate around an onscreen keyboard and you will lose the will to live after about 15 seconds). But other apps are just totally brain dead in this area. Things like Youtube or iplayer can "see" the keyboard, because you can use the cursor keys to move the highlighted selection around the screen, and press enter to select them, BUT YOU CANNOT TYPE IN THE SEARCH BOX. This is just ludicrous, and a quick search on the net shows this is a known flaw that has been around for years. You can even use the on-screen keyboard by using the cursor keys and pressing enter on this keyboard - BUT YOU CANNOT TYPE directly. This is just mindboggling stupidity on the part of whoever develops these apps.

So, even though the keyboard is fine in itself, and its support within the hardware of the TV is fine too, I still think I'll be returning it. Being able to surf on the TV is great, but I don't think I'll do that enough to justify having this lying around all the time, and not being able to use it for searches in other apps on the TV is ridiculous. But I must stress that is not the fault of this keyboard, or Panasonic.

UPDATE: as another reviewer mentioned, the keyboard (black one) I received is subtly different from the black one pictured.

My son bought this for his Microsoft Pro Surface 3 Tablet which runs on Windows 8. To set the Keyboard up you simply plug in the USB dongle and switch it on. He is able to put his tablet into sleep mode and adjust the volume and brightness with the short cut keys at the top of the keyboard. The keyboard layout is UK unlike the US layout on the official Microsoft Pro Surface 3 keyboard and case. The touch pad is responsive and the overall build quality seems very good. According to the product information that came with the keyboard the batteries (2 X AA) last 12 months.

This little, and i mean little, keyboard is just great. I use this alongside my main keyboard to control a second pc but i don't need another big keyboard. Battery life seems great (still running on originals), range is good, track pad very nice only negative on mine, not sure if it's the same for everyone, but the keys do seem a little stiff to depress. Not the end of the world but just a little annoying.

On the positive front, this is a well built keyboard, that certainly feels like it was a few quid more than the average £30 you're likely to find this at in most retail outlets.

However, the biggest problem I have with this unit is the cursor up key, that occupies the space where half of the right hand shift key would be on a standard keyboard, that is normally about double-width. Which wouldn't be a problem for occasional Smart TV type use, I would imagine, but as it's marketed as a supplementary laptop keyboard, can make text editing an unnecessary nightmare.

Frequently I find capitalising a word, means that the cursor has flown up the document, and I'm now inserting text where it shouldn't be. Resulting in me then having to "debug" my document.

Another issue, that I've had with other Logitech purchases, Is the accompanying software seems to take ages to install when considering the functionality that is involved. Leading me to think, although I've never actually looked into it, that the code is inefficient and somewhat bloaty.

This software failed to install on my Win XP SP3 machine, which is supported, but I have found that most of the functionality, including the multi-touchpad gestures, and the function keys seem to do the things that correspond to their icons, on the out-of-the-box Windows drivers. Although lack the capacity to customise them of course.

Stray fingers over the touchpad, can bring some unpredictable results too. Something that can happen with any touch-pad, but seems to happen more when it's to the side, rather in the traditional central lap-top position.

This wireless keyboard has been great. It works well from a distance of several metres without any problems. Although I only occasionally use it, the battery that it came with is still in use today (3 years later). The touchpad works as well as the one on my laptop and there is no lagging. Great value for money. I can't say I have had any problems with it. Would highly recommend this wireless keyboard.
