I love the button on the top to change between sensitivity modes. I use pink mode on my 4k screen for general use then kick it up blue mode (highest sensitivity) for gaming. This works on both Bluetooth and Logitech dongle.
I'm not an MLG Pro or whatever the kids are calling it these days, but I've gamed on PC for 30 years and used to be regularly in the top 3 on QuakeWorld back in the day, so I'm very used to fast-paced M&K gaming. I find the weight of it with two AA batteries fine for me for everyday use but I pop one out to lighten it for the fast-paced gaming at the cost of some battery life, which is insanely good anyway. You could lighten it further by using a smaller AAA battery in a 3d printed adapter I suppose too.
My minor gripes with this mouse though are it feels a bit small in my hands. I'm only a medium-sized hand with skinny fingers too. I find myself having to do hand stretching exercises between sessions to uncramp my hand.
Oh, if you use talcum powder to reduce sweaty palms this might not be for you as the magnetic top cover means the dust will drop right in and into the switches. Could gum things up.
After three months the G emblem is wearing off.
I miss the tilt wheel of my older mouse. The back/forward thumb buttons aren't as nice for precision as pressing them twitches the mouse and puts my thumb out of its natural resting position. Fine for web browsing, bad for gaming.
Despite the drawbacks I do like the G603 paired with the G613 keyboard for both regular office use and gaming. I will be buying another set for my home office as they're both very nice to work with and aren't edgy and flashy and are a nice dark office grey, if that's your thing like me.
The mouse was immaculate, no scratch, and the mouse feet pads were hardly worn. Looking good so far.
Windows doesnt install the Logitech Gaming Mouse software as standard, I went to the logitect website for that and update the mouse to the latest firmware.
The mouse was nice to grip, the weight is about right for me. (I play Destiny 2 and The Division on PC) the DPI settings was easy to set up. and the mouse can remember the keys set for each game I play. and the big bonus of multi-connectivity, bluetooth and the usb dongle. I connect via Bluetooth exclusively on my laptop.
The niceties end here.
After about a week, the mouse starts playing up:
1. mouse does not track or recognise slow movement, which make photo editing very difficult. Those small adjustment to the slider, the mouse doesnt move at all. It only moves after a hard nudge.
2. mouse wheel does not track properly. when I scroll down, the page scrolls up and down but remain at the same location.
With these issues, I went and contacted logitech support, the first response I got was:
1. Re-seat the usb dongle (which I dont use)
2. Not to use the usb dongle in a KVM or USB hub (my laptop only has 2 USBs, a mouse is not going to take those USBs)
3. Disable "USB Selective Suspend" settings (stopping blaming windows settings)
4. Update the firmware of the mouse: G603Update_8.5.26.exe (this really gets me, logitech support advises me to install an older firmware, when the latest one is 8.6.28 as listed on the logitech website!)
I double checked the logitech forums, apparently users have been reported the same issue. Some has received replacement from logitech, some regularly installed updates over and over again to resolve the issue every fortnight.
While these issues arenot a problem for gaming (it plays very well), it defeats the sole purpose of being a mouse for both work and play.
I decided enough is enough, and returned the mouse back to Amazon, who has gave me a full refund.
With the refund, I bought the Logitech MX Master from Amazon Warehouse, and it works like a treat!
It has not got any of the issues I named above. Money well spent.
Shape wise it is very similar. It takes two batteries instead of being rechargeable though and I found the weight 'off' and coincidentally its not adjustable. I cant put my finger on it but the mouse felt 'off' to me and so for now I ahve stuff with my g703.
Given the price point I would expect a few things on this mouse:
Rechargeable battery like the g703.
Support more than 2 hosts. It needs 3. Like the MX Master 3.
Dont get me wrong, as a portable office mouse its ok but its all a bit to general and dull feeling whihc is a shame as it bills itself as a gaming mouse. Its got a great sensor (hero sensor) that is accurate and responsive and it links in with the other gaming products through the ghub.
However for me it feels like they have taken a general purpose mouse and tried to give it a lick of gaming paint. The much much better proposition at this price point is the g703 in almost every way but the g703 lacks the abillity to connect to a second device making it gaming exclusive.
For my mind logitech just need to add the abillity to connect the g703 to other devices and those who want their primary mouse to be gaming one also have the option of using it with other devices. The g603 attempts this but lacks all of the extra features of the 703 and feels dull to use and in hand
