The layout is quite similar to it's Harmony One predecessor with the buttons on the bottom and screen on the top. It's for this reason I skipped the previous generation of Harmony Touch remotes; I couldn't get over having that terrible screen placement in the middle with the most used control buttons ABOVE the screen.
Compared with the One, it's missing the number buttons but replaces with home control buttons on the bottom to control connected devices like Philips Hue. The touch screen is a tad bigger but the pixel density is approximately the same (its low res compared to a modern phone screen). The defunct physical number buttons are now accessed from the touch screen like a smartphone number pad.
The quality of the hardware is what you expect of such a premium product from Logitech. Well made, plastic and shiny piano black but the new logo looks rubbish. The back of the remote is has a matt rubberised finish which I suspect will wear down with used like my previous remote did.
Note: The following is my experience at the time of writing and hopefully Logitech will improve the functionality of the software.
Setup: I'm a seasoned Harmony user and I still found the new software and app inconsistent and confusing, especially when switching back and forth between setting it up using the Windows PC based app and the Android/iOS app. For example, if you want to set up TV Favourites for the first time you have to initialize Favourite setup on the mobile app before you can make any changes on the PC app, it doesn't work the other way around.Read more ›
I have tried a number of different devices over the years from All-4-Ones to sophisticated, programmable, tablet based software. All have had their strenghths, but all have had some really annoying quirks or poor features, usually the actual programming side of things. The last "physical" remote I had was one of the cheaper Logitch remotes (I forget the model) and I really loved it, but you had to connect it to a PC and then to their website in order to program it. It worked, but it was a major pain! And the tablet remotes? Well, as far as I can determine no one appears to be supporting IR on their tablets anymore. A Samsung tablet I had did support IR, but it was far too directional so could be a bit hit or miss for it working.
I've also tried two bluetooth, IR hubs that work in conjuction with tablets and smartphones and, sadly, neither were satisfactory. The software promised much because you could download device information via wi-fi and create your own unique remotes and layouts according to how YOU want to work. In some ways this was actually a failing. The process of creating these layouts and activities was, on the whole, a little too tricky and slow.
What I really wanted was an easy to use device that you could set up quickly and easily and it just worked, but could also be modified or amended to some extent for personal requirements.
The Harmony Elite gives me that! Setting everything up from my phone (Android) was a complete doddle! Finding and selecting all of my devices was so simple.Read more ›
As an update it can quite suddenly fail to control a device or a function of a device. No clear reason for this and it is annoying. I hope that "locking" the remote to prevent changes may stop this.
As a further update if it drops a device do NOT panic and try to re-install the device just turn off the activity and turn it on again and you should be good to go again

Very happy with purchase!
Received very promptly. This replaced an earlier Harmony Remote, so that I could connect my Amazon Dot etc to the Hub and use the Dot to voice control all devices. Read morePublished 12 days ago by Mr. G. Culbertson

I would give 5 star for the hardware (hub and remote), however the software is 1 star. I wish Logitech had better software for their fantastic hardware. Read morePublished 22 days ago by ErtD
