The Logitech Driving Force GT provides a strong and realistic experience for all players. Personally after you have got used to the wheel you notice it becomes easier and lighter to use (If not just change the settings on the game).
The way the wheel turns is strong and firm, also I love the way the wheel adapts to different road surfaces and terrain. E.g. in Colin McRae: DIRT 2 the wheel is very shaky and aggressive due to the rough road conditions, like bumps and dips.
For the pedals, although they're made from plastic, they are pretty lifelike and strong. You will notice the brake has more resistance than the accelerator and apart from there being no clutch the pedals do a very good job and work very well.
The pros of this product are:
- The force feedback
- Steering wheel size (11 inches)
- Button access
- Mounting access
- 900 degrees of wheel rotation
- Works well with The PlayStation 3 and PlayStation 2
- Official Gran Turismo 5 product
- Sequential gear change (No six speed)
- No clutch
Very good games to use with the Logitech Driving Force GT:
- Need For Speed Shift (PS3)
- Gran Turismo 5 Prorogue (PS3) (The Official Gran Turismo 5 still awaiting release date)
- Gran Turismo 4 (PS2)
- Race Driver GRID (PS3)
- Colin McRae: DIRT 2 (PS3)
Unpacking is fairly painless and setting up and connecting everything should take no more than 5 minutes and you should be ready to go. The unit comes with a power supply for the force feedback function as well as various cables to connect the foot pedals to the main steering unit as well as a USB cable to connect the controller up to a PC or a Playstation. Please note: This WILL NOT work with Xbox so if you require an Xbox steering wheel you need to look at other options!
The steering wheel unit is built solidly enough made from a good grade of plastic similar in ways to that found in many real car dashboards. The steering wheel it self is clad in a high grade rubber mould, and generally gives good control, however it starts to become slightly slippery I feel when you are racing intensively and your palms are starting to sweat. The wheel offers a 900 degree left to right lock, the same as you find in real cars, thus enhancing the realism of the experience. The sensation gained from the force feedback (which is controllable) is a revelation and greatly enhances the racing/driving experience to a level you cant achieve any other way
The gear shift lever is mounted directly onto the steering wheel unit to the right hand side so may be an issue if you prefer the gear shift lever on the opposite side. The gear shift include is simply a sequential gear shift and not a manual gear selector as found on the G27 wheel.Read more ›
I bought it with the new GT5, and my main worries are the force feedback, and the pedals..
The wheel have plenty of force feedback, i think that sometimes it have to much, i always put it in 1 or 2, but you can regulate until 10, and the pedals my main worries were because i know little of wheels i thought that maybe when i put my feet they dont have force and go straight down, but they feel like a pedal of a car....
So i give 09 out of 10, just because the pedals are made of plastic, but i have to say its a very hard plastic.....
Sorry i cant explain my self so good, my english is a bit bad, i wish its better to explain more about this good and well made product...
I wish all a GR8 year full of health, joy and money in our pockets....;)
Regards from portugal...
I have purchased the Force GT a month ago, in view of the forthcoming release of GT5.
As I'm a young daddy (36yrs old = old generation gamer), with very limited time on my hands, I have not played a lot 9compared to a real gamer), but still managed to log in, around 10 hours, on GT5 prologue, Dirt 2 and F1 2010.
Forgot to mention this is my 1st wheel, so don't have previous experience to compare.
The feedback on GT5 Prol. and Dirt 2 is amazing, and if you have a nice set up (sitting position + fixation of wheel + pedals) then the gaming experience is excellent, and you almost feel like being in the real thing. The wheel's feedback is extremely realistic, and you feel the slightest bump and curb on the track, as well as the "loosening" of the car at very high speeds.
I still have not played around with settings in the games, but I'm extremely satisfied with the original settings.
The price is very good for what you are getting, and I highly recommend this product to any Race gamer.
