So here goes with all the jargon and techy stuff.
I used it with some mates as a test.
We set it up in a hotel bar area.
It was easy to set up and it was sensational. The picture and sound were superb.
I will be using this on a regular basis as I work for a large multiple site retail company that has offices around the uk.
The top aluminium-clad section contains a full-HD camera, omnidirectional full-duplex echo- and noise-cancelling microphones on opposite 'sides' of the cylinder, and touch controls for volume up/down and muting the microphone. The matte-black fabric-covered bottom section houses speakers that deliver 360-degree sound within a 12-foot diameter and a circular status LED that glows blue when the device is turned on and when you're in a call, and red when you mute the mic.
There are four touch controls on top of the ConferenceCam Connect: power on/off in the middle, surrounded by controls for switching between video-conferencing, Bluetooth and wireless screen-mirroring modes (of which more below). Although it's tall, the device is well weighted and a rubberised ring on the underside helps to keep it in place -- even on a well-polished meeting-room table or a bar table !!!!!!!!
The 1080p camera, sitting towards the top, has a 90-degree field of view and features a glass Zeiss lens with autofocus. A mechanical tilt wheel sits just below the lens, but isn't particularly easy to manipulate. More convenient is the remote control, which slots magnetically into the recess that houses the lens and touch controls, providing protection for the former when the endpoint is not in use.Read more ›
Supplied are a USB lead and a mains charger, with slot in UK and European plugs. No HDMI cable is supplied and neither is a cover for the Connect, which is a bit of a surprise given its portability and that the speaker grille will attract dust over time. It's a nicely designed and reasonably lightweight device, albeit top heavy so could be knocked over if someone were to bump into the table it was standing on. I say this with experience! Fortunately the base features a rubberised ring so those polished boardroom tables shouldn't either be a hazard or marked by its presence.
The device works well with Skype/Lync for video conferences (no software is supplied) though these were all I had to test with. WebEx is apparently supported so it may work with others too. The sound was loud enough for a medium sized room and the video quality was very good. The remote allows you to pan and tilt the lens plus zoom in if necessary. Screen mirroring allows you to share presentations or documents from mobile devices BUT it does not support AirPlay so iPhones and iPads can not be used, only Android or Windows.
It's a good quality device for video conferencing on the move, especially if you work for a company where dedicated video conferencing facilities are minimal or, more likely, always booked when you need it.
Component and build quailty are top notch and the Zeiss lens provides a crystal clear HD picture.
The unit, when fully charged can provide 3hrs of video conferencing and 15hrs of Bluetooth audio, although why one would want to use it as a Bluetooth speaker is beyond me - the audio, whilst good is suited only to hands free talking on your 'phone - it's certsnly not to hi-fi standards.
For trialling, I connected my unit to my Samsung tv (HDMI cable not supplied) and my MacBook. Set was pretty straight forward, bascically plug and play, and as previousy stated the images were stunning and sound was pretty perfect. For full benefit I would imagine you will need one of these units to be installed at each of the locations being involved in your conference calls - and that's when it will become quite expensive.
Bases on its own merits, the Logitech Conference Connect Webcam is probably the best on the market, but I feel it's a very over priced piece of equipment after considering other options (even those by Logitech themselves) that are available at under half of the price it is selling for.

Not as connectable as it should be if you have a iPhone.
Can only digital pan and tilt so have to zoom in first so has to be a distance away. Read more
This is a beautifully made item and quite easy to use. The camera quality is fantastic, particularly when you compare it to the camera embedded in a laptop. Read morePublished 8 months ago by Gadgetman
A good product that works very well.
Is best for a max of 6 people I would say as its 90 degree field of view means that more than 6 people cannot be fitted in.
Works like a charm with minimal fuss. Camera optics are great; audio is perfect. Can't fault it.Published 14 months ago by D. P.
