Because this is my first joystick; I can't compare it with other models; but I'm very happy with it. I use it only for X Plane 9 and for this it is very good. I had looked at purchasing a yoke, but they are very expensive and I didn't really want to spend much more than £30; so this came within my price range. I bought it after searching on Google for, specifically, recommended joystick to use with X Plane 9 and this one was mentioned a few times as a good choice.
I think this will be an excellent option if you plan to use it with flight sims; I don't know how it would be with other games as I've not used it for anything else.
So far I haven't experienced any issues with it; I just plug it into my Mac and it works perfectly every time, and worked straight out of the box. If you use a PC, there is an installation disc provided.
Admittedly I had to program the buttons in X Plane, but this isn't to the detriment of the joystick at all; that's just how X Plane works with joysticks. Having said that; calibration was easy enough.
One of the good things about this model is that the base is quite heavy and so it stays in place on the desk when in use. It also feels quite well made. Again, I don't know how this compares to other models; but the overall build quality seems to be reasonable enough.
The throttle lever is a little disappointing. Very small and doesn't really give any resistance when you ease it to full power; but then I guess for this price you're only going to get the basics. It's also the only part of the joystick that feels cheap as it's made from a sort of lightweight glossy plastic. There is also no force feedback or vibration; again due to the fact that this is an entry-level model. But, if you can live with these 'shortcomings'; you'll find this is an excellent product.

p.s. I had this delivered via City Link. Amazon; in their wisdom; have chosen to use this company for certain items. I have never had WORSE customer service than that which I received from City Link. The parcel was not delivered on the day it should have been delivered and; furthermore; a separate package I ordered from Amazon was delivered to the wrong address altogether! Either this was a genuine mistake; or the driver couldn't be bothered to locate my house and therefore dropped it at the nearest house he could find; way down the other end of the street! Not good City Link; not good at all. Two bad experiences in a row with the same company. Conclusion...AVOID CITY LINK.
