Product Description

Product Description

Michael and Julia travel to the remote Two Rivers Ranch to spend a romantic weekend alone in a lodge, nestled deep in the Rocky Mountains. As the weekend begins the couple meets the caretaker, Henry, who seems suspiciously unfamiliar with the surrounding area. Little by little, they develop more questions about their weekend retreat that raise suspicion about the fate of the previous guests. As their suspicions continue to grow they discover the biggest secret of all; Desi, a thirteen-year-old girl alone in the dark hallways of the lodge.

Before too long their idyllic getaway becomes a life and death struggle that pits Michael and Julia against the only man for miles and more importantly, the lodge itself

As other viewers have already quite correctly pointed out, the perky blurb on
the product packaging promises much with its references to both 'The Shining'
and 'Cabin In The Woods' and some pretty enticing quotes : "A Nerve Shattering
Classic Horror" & "Will Creep The Hell Out Of You". As to the former, well,
it isn't and with regard to the latter, well, it didn't (although I shouted at
the TV screen in utter disbelief on a number of occasions during the 85 minute
course of this utterly execrable movie but not in response to any of directors
Brad Helmink and John Rauchelbach's sloppy narrative or lame shock tactics).

What a mess! No-brainer script; appalling continuity and editing which, together
with cardboard cutout characterization and equally wooden acting, scrapes the very
bottom of the couple-on-a-weekend-away-in-a-creaky-house-full-of-sick-psychos-
and-not-getting-away-when-they-had-every-good-chance barrel. In a word : Pants.

I bought my copy today in a charity shop. Clearly a bad sign for such a new disc.

The British DVD released by 101 Films carries a quote from horror.net: "THE SHINING meets CABIN IN THE WOODS Truly disturbing". In fact it's a cheap and nasty little film in which a young couple are brutalised by two sadists. That's all. I would have checked horror.net, but apparently the site is risky to visit. The packaging of the film also has rottentomatoes.com saying "Will creep the hell out of you." Really? This is what the site actually says: [...]
And there's also a glowing quote from [...]
- you will judge how critically reliable they are.
Don't waste your money or your time, as I did.

The cover blurb has the temerity to suggest that this film is in the same ball park as The Shining and Cabin in the Woods. Please don't believe that for a minte- they are films of wit, thought and intelligence. This is about as far from those two films as you can possibly get. In fact it re-defines the word formulaic- loved up couple go to remote cabin for peace and quiet-mad person appears-all not right-strange noises etc-mad man attacks- eventually they both escape-chase ensues-mad man dies-they think they've got away-twist. t's really that simple and that tedious. The acting makes one think they made the cast out of left over wood when the set was built. The dialogue is pre school stuff and, and, oh, I wasted 90 minutes if my precious existence on this garbage and it's that which offends me more than the money I spent. Caveat Emptor!

Absolute rubbish! Don't waste your money........

I don't mind low budget films if the story itself can offer something more then the old predictable plots. Really bad acting throughout, and to be quite honest, I felt as though I had just wasted my money. I'll never have the urge to watch it again. It wasn't scary. There were a few disturbing scenes but I didn't feel any empathy for the characters so couldn't care less. The victims were annoying and stupid and you really don't feel like you're rooting for them. You will not be missing anything if you do not watch this

There are better films than this of a similar nature and in the same sort of genre..........if you haven't watched it already, I would recommend Cabin In The Woods, Severance, or even The Cottage to this garbage

This has got to be the worst film I have ever watched in my life! Basically we have the worst bunch of actors, worst plot line, worst dialogue and the makers of this film couldn't even get the blurb right!

Firstly the typical loved up couple look like they have just met for the first time on a blind date! The male lead thought it was acceptable to talk about his sex life with the creepy perverted stereotypical villain he had just met.

In first 10+ of meeting "the happy couple" Henry the villain had already stolen a pair of the woman's knickers and I had to watch him sniffing them for at least a minute. I gathered Henry must like sniffing things as later, I had to watch him sniffing the main female leads hair while she relaxed in a hot tub completely oblivious. Henry also had a creepy incestuous relationship with a girl who helped him, she walked around in what I can only describe as victorian style clothing, hair what hadn't been washed in years and she also looked like she had been badly burnt at some point. The blurb said we would learn more about the girl, which was a lie
All I learnt was her name which I have already forgotten!

Another thing what annoyed me was the fact the couple never carried any weapons on them despite the fact they had nearly just been chopped up with a chainsaw! And also the main male lead didn't even seem to be bothered when he heard his girlfriend being sexually assaulted!

Don't even bother watching this film, it was horrendous! I've never left a review before but I had to warn others. Don't waste over a hour of your life watching this crap😢

Bought as a present for my avid horror fan boyfriend. He's no "expert" but did say this was without doubt the worst horror film he had ever seen. Good thing it was cheap!
