Certainly worth listening to if you like Elton John’s music
C d.
Elton has returned to his session man roots with magnificent results. Anticipated by the single 'Cold Heart (PNAU Remix)' with Dua Lipa, the album is a musical journey through different genres, directed with refined skill by one of the greatest musicians of our time.
“The Lockdown Sessions” is more than just a collaborative album, it's a collection of 16 tracks with 10 unreleased songs that celebrates the desire for unity and sees Elton collaborate with an unrivaled array of artists that only he could put together.
More than 20 artists spanning an incredibly wide range of genres, generations, cultures, continents and more, each contributing a unique style to the album.
Inside the disc also the already known cover of Nothing Else Matters by Metallica with Andrew Watt, Miley Cyrus and Yo-yo Ma.
Among the artists chosen for the album by Elton John not only pop from the charts, but also names like Eddie Vedder, Stevie Nicks, Stevie Wonder and Gorillaz.
The result is not bad, but it tastes so much of self-celebration and divertissement.
In other words: Sir Elton enjoys his popularity and his status as a legend.
The tracks and styles are varied but they all have the same thing in common. The artists love of music and Elton John’ commitment to his art.
Read the sleeve note as there is story behind each collaboration. The most moving for me was Glen Campbell’s track which he wrote as a result of his dementia diagnosis.
Music has the power to bring us together and EJ has done this beautifully with the different genre of music on this important, eclectic and uplifting album.
I love it!
