Absolutely excellent from start to finish. Anyone wishing to build core whilst identifying tension and removing it by relaxation and breathing exercises will find this book invaluable. Systema, the study of movement is vital for survival and well-being. Matt Hill has encapsulated everything you will ever need from a work out, free from gyms, weights or distraction and it’s all in one book. Brilliant! – Amazon review.
Just the "breathwork" gave me instant results! That alone makes this book an essential! – Amazon review.

Matt Hill cares about your health. That fact shines through the pages of this book. I found myself nodding and smiling as I read the clear, concise suggestions on how to bring natural, vibrant movement back in to our lives. This is a book for those who have come to recognise Systema as a blueprint for a healthy life. It is also for anyone who doesn't want to sit cross-legged on the floor chanting in an effort to get healthy. So, let your shoulders relax; take a long, deep breath through your nose and, as you let the breath gently out through your mouth, go and get this book. You can thank me later.
The book takes one through a recipe for leading a healthy and functional life based on the teachings of Systema.
Matts's philosophy shines through in the writing , he definitely practices what he teaches , this is a golden opportunity to take a peak into the mindset of a gifted martial artist and teacher
Matt’s latest book made me very mindful of the tension that can build unknowingly, sat at a desk, exercising, walking or even drinking a cup of tea!
Using varied exercises (breathing ladders, posturing correction, games to name but a few) Living Systema helped me pinpoint tension areas in my body and felt confident to go outside and put the ideas straight into practice without any equipment such as mats, weights, gloves, etc etc, all I needed was the great outdoors. It felt great to get out and do something without the need for dedicated ‘Exercise’ slot too, instead using the time with my family, walking or even sat reading.
For me the book sets the divide between ‘ doing what you say and saying what you do’ for me it’s made me become far more conscious and mindful of Systema holistically.
The style and layout of Living Health was fun and easy to read also I found the video links a real bonus and full of ideas.
I have read many books about Systema and movement in general but I feel this is the most practical and applicable to everyday life. It is also the most valuable as it is a book that, if followed correctly, will see you moving freely well into old age.
This book hits at two levels. For someone who has not encountered Systema before it is a great introduction into the true principles which lie at the heart of this great Martial Art.
For the Systema practitioner there is nothing really new in the book, at least at the surface level. As you leaf through the pages you become aware of what you really already know, or be it sometimes subconsciously. So, if I already know it, why aren’t I doing it? Sometimes we need someone to inspire us to dig deep inside ourselves. To trigger and revive the thought process.
Matt has a proven track record as a Martial Arts practitioner with a military background. He is an inspirational coach and excellent communicator. Now proven in the written word as well as in the training hall.
Having studied Martial Arts for over 40 years, the key message that I am left with after reading Matts book, is that a true Martial Artist doesn’t train 2, 3 or 4 times per week. He/she trains all the time.
My favourite quote “..do you ever see a Tiger doing push ups? Their every movement is training.”
Read the book and be a better Tiger! – Thanks Matt
