Life changing gateways to to sacred living.

In Living the Sacred, Stafford Whiteaker offers ten gateways to letting spirituality flower in our lives. Getting in touch with our spiritual self and practicing the sacred in our everyday lives is our birthright.

The ten very well selected gateways are:
1. Stillness - The way of connecting to the sacred
2. Mindfulness - The way of being present to the moment
3. Listening - The way of hearing with the heart
4. Meditation - The way of opening the spiritual realm
5. Loving - The way of seeking reality
6. Celebrating - The way of belonging to Creation
7. Dreaming - The way of belonging to Creation
8. Affirmation - The way of taking stock
9. Prayer - The way of talking to God
10. Creativity - the way of grounding the new vision.

While I can highly recommend all of Stafford Whiteaker's book I consider this his wisest book. For anybody on a spiritual path of personal development in the context to serve the world, this is an essential book. The ten gateways are together an amazingly complete "toolbox" or "map" on our journey in union with God. While Stafford himself in on his spiritual journey follows the footsteps of Christ, he wrote this book in an embracing way, drawing on universal wisdom so that woman and men from diverse backgrounds can be inspired and lovingly challenged.

This book - as the last chapter is called - helped me to become more of "a wise traveller" in all the ups and downs of life's adventure. The book doesn't split life in spiritual and non-spiritual but helps to find the divine in all aspects and discover new spiritual practices in areas of life where you thought they did not exist.

After reading this book you might want to explore his bestselling The Good Retreat Guide to find some sacred places to connect to other fellow travellers.

Living the Sacred: Ten Gateways to Open Your Heart
I don't exactly know how I found this book as I wasn't looking for anything in this category. However, I am glad I did. I have found it fascinating, very readable and approachable and am still working my way through it. There are 10 Gateways discussed in the book which allow you to explore e.g mindfulness, stillness, creativity and prayer. I would recommend this if you are someone interested in developing or discovering your spiritual side. A great find.
