Product description

Review

...well-written, well-organised, never remotely patronising. Any sane English department will have the original, the new eight (and accompanying tape) as soon as budgets permit...These are patient manuals and the authors have seleted genuinely interesting extracts to inform and illustrate their arguments. (Times Educational Supplement)

...these books would be an invaluable resource for any English Department teaching an 'A' Level sylalbus with language study in it. (The Use of English)

This book provides detailed information both formal and informal covering a large chunk of the A-level syllubus. S. Martin shows that A-level English Language can be fun. It covers areas that will not only be examined on but also a key in some coursework topics. The subjects covered are interesting not just to the A-level studnent but the wider audeience, thought primarily aimed at the student.

Format: Paperback
Although now a little dated in terms of the exam board specifications, this is still a very well written and highly useful text for A-level students tackling Language Change. With a variety of well-chosen texts for analysis, useful commentaries for revision and classwork, and an appropriately pitched style, this comes highly recommended for students and teachers alike.
