Two fantastic albums from the Michael McDonald years with The Doobie Brothers – beautifully musical and beautifully produced – 1977's overlooked "Livin' On A Fault Line" and the award-winning goliath that was 1978's "Minute By Minute". Both albums are chockfull of musical goodies and Soul-Rock moments. Here are the 'Echoes Of Love'...

Michael McDonald's influence was starting to grow as the Doobie's sound became more laid-back & soulful. McDonald shines on this album, contributing what are arguably some of his best compositions: 'Nothin' But a Heartache', 'There's a Light', You belong to me' and 'You're made that way' smoulder with a slick blue-eyed soul that were staples of FM radio at the time. Elsewhere Patrick Simmons' title track and 'Echoes of Love' are album high points.

The original CD issues of all the Doobie Brothers albums were notorious for their flat, lifeless sound. Not any more: These meticulously prepared Japanese editions are a feast for the eyes and ears - the attention to detail is astounding! It's been long overdue but well worth the wait. Doobie fans should aquire without delay.

I bought this album to replace the LP I had for the Doobie Brothers. It's a real golden album, very easy listening. The case if brilliant, because it comes in a paper slip, inside a card case, just like the records did. Very nostalgic.

Very different artists blending their unique styles. . The major talents here produce some very classy tracks. Tracks which are well recorded, doesn't at all sound dated and stands the test of time.
