a real pearl by this over skilled four headed hydra, one of the best ever 70s' hard rock pioneers
who got their official recognition at woodstock 69'.a real classic this one is by "mountain",unlike their other live album "twin peaks" this one captures mountain's best line-up
with canadian super drummer corcky laing, and the outstanding keaboardist steve knight, alongside with the "heavy" support from mountain's founder and leader leslie west, and of course bass master and "cream" producer ("disraeli gears")felix pappalardy.mind you,not cheap this one is (only 4 tracks on this album),but each track is a priceless jewel."long red" is a piece of a real fine rock, and "crossroader" is a real blast.
highly recommended for all 70s' hard rock fans.
you gonn'a love this one.guaranteed.

the 17 minute version of Nantucket Sleighride is the true hilite of this album. Cream producer Felix Pappalardi playing bass for guitarist Leslie West is a hard rock dream. Waiting to take you away is also a Mountain treat and only found on this album. Darn good 1960's hard rock live recording.

This is one of the great 70's live albums right up there with the likes of live at Leeds. Sadly we have not been blessed with an extended version yet but what you get is fantastic. Without a drought Mountains finest moment was Netuka sleighride a killer track which got a pretty good work out on the album of the same name...however here it is extended to perfection. West is possible the most underrated of the guitar hero's a larger than life character with a massive body and appetite for drugs he is a survivor. Felix sadly was executed by his wife , who's other claim to fame was writing many of the bands lyrics and dressing Felix horrible according to Les West. Corky Lang is a far more intelligent drummer than most in the same league as Ginger Baker. Whilst Knight is as professional as Bundrick and as skilled to boot. The comparisons with Cream are inevitable and its fair to say that at their best Moutain were the better band. Check out West Bruce and Lang if you like this material. As it is this is the best of all of Mountains live records even if the recording is a little lacking by today's standard. The Road goes on forever is a true classic and one record you should own.

This CD is a must have for any dedicated Mountain fans. With the uber raunchy guitar sound of Leslie West, the solid rock drums of Corky Laing and singing bass of Felix Pappalardi. Check out his absolute killer sustain in Nantucket Sleighride. The keyboards of Steve Knight somewhat lost in the mix. Top shelf, get it now!

Mountain were very much a 'band of their times'. Very good heavy metal band, before 'heavy metal' was invented. I spent weeks and weeks with a soldering iron, and various electronic magazines, trying to reproduce Pappalardi's bass sound. No wonder he is now registered deaf.
