What an amazing book! The heroine is such a strong woman who does not let her lack of hearing define her! I loved how normal she was and that her character was so well written. The hero was swoon worthy as well, such a troubled but great guy! I love a good alpha male from the wrong side of the tracks! Definitely recommend the book!

This is a contemporary romance story by this author. I really enjoyed this story, it was sweet with a different edge to it. The characters were fantastic, they had such an emotional connection. I was hooked from the first page and fell in love with the characters at the same time. I can't wait to read more from this author in the future.
Highly recommended

I loved this book! I loved to see how Harper and Thorin connect despite everything that might stand between them. Thor's willingness to communicate with Harper, to learn how to sign made such a big difference and I just loved him for it. Oh, don't forget her friend Chloe, she is amazing as well. Even though Thor's willingness to learn how to sign meant even more to me as he is a musician, he is someone whose life revolves around music, around sound - the one thing that Harper will never be able share with him. She can feel music but she can't hear. And she doesn't speak.
The whole story is about living in silence and living with sound. Thor sometimes needs silence to settle down, to be able to create music and Harper's life is silent. Even her relationship with Harper's former boyfriend was defined by the difference between coming from a Deaf family and a hearing family.
It is amazing to read how Thor tries to overcome all those obstacles and how much of a diffrence that makes for Harper. How can you NOT fall for a guy like him? Well, that's what Harper thinks - right until the moment when it is not enough any more. Or is she not enough? Or...?
There were moments when my heart broke, right then and there, I was so upset and I just hoped that, well, you know, all this happily ever after? That's what I wanted for those two and for a while I was really worried...

A wonderful book that left me thinking about opening up to someone, about connecting with people, learning other languages (and checking out options to learn how to sign as "Signing for Dummies" that Thor uses is not available for the German sign language and did you know that there are even different sign for the UK and the States?) and so much more. I loved the story and I loved the characters - a lot.
My first book by Marie Meyer but definitely not the last.

4.0 out of 5 stars Loved this Story! 6 May 2017

This is a book I purchased off of a whim. I've never read anything by Marie Meyer. Wasn't familiar with the book at all. Just caught sight of the blurb and it drew me in. I'm totally glad I did! This story wasn't full of deep, crazy angst, but it did have a little. It wasn't superficial, but it did provide some laughs. It also provided some awesome characters, and yet more people I'd love to meet in real life.

Harper is deaf; she has been for as long as most can remember. This has caused others to put limits on her life, thereby causing her to work even harder to prove that she can do anything with her life. Her amazing best friend keeps her balanced, making her go out now and again. When Harper goes out to see this "hot new band" that her bestie is OBSESSED with, she meets Thor. No, not the god of thunder, a guitar player in the band. He sees her in the crowd, approaches her, finds out she's deaf, AND STILL ASKS HER OUT.

This story progresses in a way that gives us a little suspense, breaks your heart a little, while giving you every beautiful hope for the future. Sprinkle in a cupcake making best friend & a rockstar, and this became a read I thoroughly enjoyed.

5.0 out of 5 stars Beautiful story!!!! 17 May 2017
By Ann J. (love to read) - Published on Amazon.com

I loved this book. Harper is a girl that had been deaf since she was a little girl. She got sick and lost her hearing. Her parents aren't very supportive and they've never learned how to sign so they can communicate with her in her own language. Harper goes to a concert with her BFF. Harper can't hear but she can feel the beat, the rhythm, and loves music. She can't take her eyes off Thorin who is the guitar player and he can't seem to take his eyes off her either. After the concert Thorin approaches Harper and realizes that she is deaf but he doesn't care. He still wants to take her out. They are great together. Thorin wants to learn sign language so her will be able to talk to Harper in her own language. They have a rough patch but get through it. This is a beautiful story and I love that Thorin didn't make Harper being deaf an issue. He just imbraced their differences and moved forward.
I know you will love this book as much as I did!!
Happy reading!!
4.0 out of 5 stars ...AWESOME how Harper was able to "hear" Thor through music! 10 May 2017

Marie Meyer is a new to me author. I saw this book on a blog and the blurb fascinated me enough to pick it up and I'm so glad I did! Harper was feisty, vivacious and LOUD in her deafness. I thought it was AWESOME how Harper was able to "hear" Thor through music. She was so strong and brave even with all the obvious obstacles she had to overcome. Thor was the bad boy rocker with some pretty tough problems of his own. I've always been an advocate of "opposites attract" and these two characters couldn't be more opposite! Yet, they absolutely worked together. There's not a whole bunch of twists in the plot or even a crazy amount of drama but their story is sweet, sexy and heartfelt. Having no knowledge of ASL, I loved how I was able to understand Harper's words by how well Ms. Meyer described the movements for some of the sign language Harper used. The only thing that I wanted more of was the relationship between Thor and his parents. I would have liked to see how he was finally able to trust Harper with his burden. Told from dual POVs with a sweet, happy ending.
3.0 out of 5 stars Live Out Loud 9 May 2017

I was really enjoying this story, but then it just sort of fell flat for me. I expected the trouble with Thor's dad to be a bigger deal than it was. I honestly kept expecting him to come after Harper as some revenge tactic. Also, maybe it's because I'm hearing and not Deaf, but their reason for breaking up seemed more like the author needed there to be a problem so they'd have to break up and they'd end up back together. *EDIT* After thinking on it, I can see more why she'd be so mad, because they were both speaking out of anger. Thor said a couple things that, while they weren't unkind, they were self-centered and in my opinion probably ignorant of Deaf culture. She was right; verbalizing is her choice, she didn't have to do it, and he shouldn't badger her about it, but he didn't. I feel like their biggest problem was that Thor couldn't open up; by my count he only mentioned her verbalizing three times and one of those was just out of curiosity of why she didn't. Overall I enjoyed the story, but I just wish there had been *more*.
4.0 out of 5 stars Well worth your time to read 24 May 2017

Being a hearing person, I was curious as to how Marie would handle a deaf heroine and I can now say she's done so with sensitivity and great care. As a reader, it was very interesting to explore a world devoid of sound, but yet filled with so many other ways to perceive meaning. This is where Marie particularly shines, opening the reader up to a whole new realm of perception - especially in the sex scenes. This book is HOT! Much steamier than I'm used to. But with these two characters, it didn't feel gratuitous. And it didn't hurt that Thor is a rockstar, my weakness. There were storyline points that I wish had been explored in greater detail, but this is still a great book.
