If you use a top quality classical orientated HiFi system, this release is a must. Recorded live for an American TV special, assembling an eclectic mix guest contributors, Botti effortlessly blends the tone of his 1940's Martin Committee to a wide genre of musical styles. The incredible Billy Kitson (drums) and Billy Childs (piano), form the core of the ensemble, backed by the Boston Pops orchestra. My system really picked up on the live atmosphere of the venue. A jazzy "Seven Days", showcases the strength and control of Sting's vocal talent, and the final track, "Time to Say Goodbye" is beautiful and emotional to the extreme. Add the fact that the CD comes with an extended DVD of the concert, it's a great value release. If you own a good quality sight and sound AV system, I reckon the Blue Ray version would be suburb.
Highly recommended to Jazz, swing, classical and Sting fans alike.

Not sure what caused the previous reviewer to be so upset with this Chris Botti recording, but I can only, politely, disagree. Beautiful music, top quality guest stars (from across the musical board), a cracking band and of course, the man really, really can play that trumpet. In short, what's not to like ? Sure live recordings never really capture the joy of being there in person (go see Chris and his band - you won't be disappointed), but this comes pretty close. For me, the highlights are the soaring tune of Cinema Paradiso - just beautiful (Bellissimo!) and the wonderful When I Fall In Love, but the best advice I can give is just to sit back, relax and let the wonderful music warm your soul.

Excellent CD, but its the DVD of this album that should get the 5 stars. You will value the CD when you go through the DVD.
Unfortunately it does not have the last session featured on the DVD which is one of the best group sessions ever.

But I will not penalize the audio CD for not having it as Chris and all the musicians and producers have put there best foot forward on this.
Bravo

i bought this without knowing much about it. Now, the DVD is one we play every few months. A great achievement. The included CD is good but lacks the visual appeal of the video. Great to see the talent of these performers and the camera work is excellent.

Fantastic wonderfull CD and Dvd soulfull beautifull soaring music, although I preferred his rendition of Flamenco Sketches when played with David Sanborn on the Smooth Jazz Club Show in the early eighties

I am not a lover of Jazz music and never really considered that the sound from a single trumpet could be as rich and haunting as that achieved by Chris Botti; the man is a genius!! Being a genius, he also attracts the finest musicians and singing artists to accompany him.

I first heard him when he was accompanying Andrea Bocelli in his Portofino concert. What I would have given to be there live; well when I win the lottery I'll find out. In the meantime close your eyes and let Chris Botti transport you to another place.

I've only recently got into Chris Botti having seen him on the String - All This Time DVD. What a sound he makes and the purity of tone is breathtaking. This DVD is real mixed bag of musical styles supported by a real mixed bag of artists. But be patient. It's really worth listening and watching. His performance is so confident it's bewitching and the quality of the support acts, though very varied in style, are all at the top of their game, though I do have reservations about John Mayer's contribution. Chris Botti says at one point that there are 4 essentials to having a career doing what he's doing - practice, practice, practice and being a friend of Sting. Sting does play quite a part in this concert but his contribution is top quality. Chris Botti's main band are just astonishing. Billy Kilson on drums. His style is like no other. Enjoy

I can thoroughly, and without reservation, recommend this CD + DVD
