"Live at life" is a tremendous album and shows what a great songwriter and guitarist McNabb is! The album opens with the Icicle works classic "Hollow Horse"and he plays all the favourites "Great dreams of heaven" and "Fire inside my soul" and "Merseybeast" It's nice to hear "Fire inside my soul " and "I'm a genius" stripped down to acoustic guitar.Ian does a really powerful version of "What she did to my mind",It's probably the most menacing song he's recorded! The highlight of this brilliant show is the uplifting "When it all comes down"with the message "Love is surely all that matters"
If you are unfamiliar with McNabb's work, check this one out for starters, you will not be disappointed

Liverpudlian singer / songwriter Ian McNabb delivers 16 beautiful tracks in front of a live audience in his home town. The richness of his voice carries you away, across classic tracks such as Hollow Horse and When It All Comes Down to the cynical, humorous Why Are The Beautiful So Sad? This is songwriting and performance perfected over the past two decades. I was there, and it was the best night out of the year. This record captures some of the magic.
For lovers of good songwriting everywhere. These tracks are unbeatable. I can't recommend it highly enough.

Anyone who's aware of Ian McNabb's prodigious volume of work and entertaining style won't be surprised at the quality of this release. The acoustic tracks are crystal clear and cover older (Icicle Works) and newer material with charm and an occasionally tangible poignancy. Quite simply this is a steal at the price.

Well, if only Ian McNabb got a bit more recognition. On this live acoustic album he shows why he must be in the Top league when it comes to songwriters. You get plenty of old faves. Just enjoy the album and sing "Little Girl Lost..." Highly recommended !
