The playing is competent as you would expect but there isn't any of the usual feeling and Eric seems to be going through the motions. The rest of the band are trying really hard though and Phil Collins especially comes across with a lot of personality. Shame I don't think his style suits the music.
I understand that the Live at Montreaux 1986 DVD is much better.
Back in the day, it also convinced me that I should try playing too - and I like to think some of his 'magic' rubbed off on me. :) I'm a Genesis fan as well, so it's good to see Phil Collins bash the skins and do a version of In The Air Tonight. Great band - even if the synths sound a little dated (but so what? I was never one to hate the album he was promoting at the time - August... nowhere near a favourite but I like it all the same and if you don't - well, they do play a few songs from it in the middle of the show.)
I can listen to the Cream songs here all day and again, it got me at the time to take an interest in them as well (and become a fan) and it was great the other afternoon, seeing this after so many years passing and having had my VHS tape chew up sometime in the 90s.
If you're learning guitar or just want some inspiration or just love good quality rock music - this is for you. Don't expect an extra-laden DVD, but it IS cheap though!
