Product Description

Review

This production scores for its novelty value and clarity of its actual teaching. -- Tai Chi Finder Limited With these books the Chinese Health Qigong Association have come close to providing everyone with their own personal qigong instructor. -- Tai Chi Finder Limited Liu Zi Jue is also known as "the Six Healing Sounds", "the Six Qi Method" and "the Six Word Secret". This is a classical system first written down in the sixth centruy. Originally, the practice was a breathing exercise using the six sounds but later body movements were added to the practice. The book and DVD give the most comprehensive description of how to make the sounds correctly. There are very specific instructions on how to position the mouth, teeth and tongue and, of course, you hear the correct sound on the DVD. The DVD is very professionally and beautifully done and is one of the best that I have seen. The practitioners demonstrating the forms are clearly very experienced and are excellent models to follow. -- Medical Qigong Education Centre

One of a set of four books each dealing with one traditional Chinese Health Qigong (Chi Kung) exercise. Pretty good book with complementary DVD that shows the exercises done very prettily. I have been learning Chi Kung since 1986 and teaching it in various forms since 1994; so I applaud the production of books in English, which are otherwise few and far between. BUT it would be optimistic to suggest that someone who has never looked at this set of exercises before could learn them to a reasonable standard from this book/DVD combination. The concepts and the exercises are too complex for this. As an 'aide memoire', however, it is brilliant.

I recently joined a chi kung class at our local leisure club and we are learning sounds in the class so I purchased this item to help me so that I could practice at home. Unfortunately these are different to what I am learning but I am still finding it very interesting to read and learn more about chi kung. The book includes a DVD which explains the moves and shows you how to do the various sounds and what parts of the body the sound is healing. I did find in places the DVD wasn't a very good recording however, which was a bit of a let down

Already have the Ba Duan Jin and Wu Qin Xi books and dvd's from this series and am happy again with the quality of the Liu Zi Jue set.

My qigong teachers highly recommended these publications because of the quality of the instruction and I'm happy to say I agree. Definitely important to receive instruction in person from a good teacher, but these books and dvd's are really helpful to remind you of what you've been taught in the flesh.

I think they really shine as a reference when you can only train occasionally with your sifu/teacher because they live a long way away (like me).

I can fully recommend buying this (or any from the series) if you're interested in learning qigong.

This is a very old and unusual form of Qigong that is best practiced in private, unless you want people to think you're a little bonkers!
Jokes aside, this is an ancient method of energy cultivation used by daoists for hundreds of years.

I attended a workshop with the producers of this book/dvd, which is a good idea as the sounds and their differences can be quite subtle, however after listening to the DVD which is a must to understand what is going on, I think anyone would be able to get a good grasp of this set of exercises with careful practice.

This is a great combo as there is not to my knowledge any other reference work on the 6 healing sounds available in English.

As I mentioned in another review, people should not try to learn many different sets of Qigong, but instead find one or two sets that they enjoy, and practice them accurately and daily to really gain benefits.

This set which is very different from purely movements ones, would be a good option to practice along side something like the Baduanjin set, which is also available from the same publishers.

So..... If you want to do some Qigong that is just that little bit more unusual, but equally importantly, get a good understanding of why you're doing it, then this is an interesting and valuable book.
