Book one of the Texas Brands series by Maggie Shayne.
Garrett is the oldest Brand brother and since his parents death in his senior year at high school he's looked after is five other siblings and run the family farm. Social services want to take his brothers and sister into care but Garrett wouldn't let them.
One night Garrett is workmen up but not sure why until he opens front door to find a six month old baby with a letter saying he's named after Garrett and that the mother knows he'll be best looked after by Garrett.
Garrett is positive he's not the father but can't figure out why a mother would leave this baby on his door set.
Chelsea is called by police to identify her sisters body after she'd supposedly committed suicide by injection but Chelsea sister was scared of needles and never would have done that.
Chelsea turns up at the brand ranch and hits Garrett in the face.
I love that Garrett really works to try and romance Chelsea in his own way after a failed romance date staged by Jessi.
I really enjoy big family feel in books because it reminds me of my big crazy family.
Nice easy read that you struggle to put down. Really enjoyed the second romance story with Jessi and Lash.
Love Maggie Shayne books especially Wings in the Night series.

A great read. Poor garret blows up thinking on of his brothers were careless after discovering a baby on the doorstep. Turns out hes more than shocked when the note claims its garret who's the father. Chelsea has to identify her sisters body and goes in search for both her sisters baby and its father. She knows there's more to her sisters death but the rangers say it was suicide. This is a great story and worth the read.

The Littlest Cowboy starts out with Garrett Brand being woken up by a sound. He is the sheriff of a small town in Texas so he he goes to investigate the noise with his gun drawn. What a surprise when the "noise" is a baby on his doorstep with a note saying he was the baby's father. Garrett knows this can't be his child but cares for the child anyway. He lives on a ranch with his 3 brothers and sister so they help out, however, they have no experience with babies so are not a lot of help. In the middle of the night, Garrett hears pounding on the door and answers it to Chelsea. She has just come from identifying her sister's body and is looking for her sister's baby. Garrett wants to find out about the death of the baby's mother to see if she was murdered or had commit suicide. As Garrett and Chelsea spend more time together, an attraction forms.

I liked this book and thought the first couple of chapters were sooooo funny. I was laughing constantly and didn't want to put it down. It was well written and very descriptive. The book is a great read and definitely captures the reader in the story line, but that wouldn't work if she didn't have good characters. Garrett was a wonderful man who was always looking out for everyone else, especially is siblings. Chelsea was not very likable in the beginning and had every right to be nasty since she believed Garrett to be Ethan's father and murderer of her sister. I liked the secondary characters and thought the Brand clan are fantastic. I love how they worked together to solve problems.

This romance has nearly everything you would want to find in this type of story. The only part I would question is the heroine's reckless behaviour towards the end as, no matter how eaten up by anger she might be, nobody with even half a brain would do anything that stupid! Apart from that this is a really engrossing story and a real page turner. Excellent set of characters and how wonderful it would be to have a family like the Brands. Recommend this freebie to all romance fans.

First Maggie Shaynes book I have read. I enjoyed so bought the rest of the Texas brand books. Its about a family of six who garret has raised. Someone leaves a baby on the ranch doorstep. Garret takes in the baby he is also the local sheriff. He promptly falls in love with the baby and drags his feet to place the baby. The sister of the mother turns up. Sparks fly between the new couple, we then get the bit of drama. Predictable but enjoyable. I bought the rest of the brand books because I wanted to know watch appended to the rest of the siblings?

Why is this book called The Littlest Cowboy - a baby is left at a ranch, that doesn't make him a cowboy! Chelsea may have had a hard upbringing, but she jumped to conclusions and had so little trust, that it was hard to believe a nice guy like Garrett could really fall for her.
The other characters in the book were a lot more interesting and I could see the series developing into something more worth reading if you just think of this book as setting the scene, but I would only try the next one if it was a free download.
