I absolutely loved this story, especially the setting in Sardinia, which the author described exactly as I remembered it from my holidays there. I thought the premise was so interesting and I loved discovering all about the tradition of Sardinian theatre. As the story developed into more of a mystery with so many secrets unfolding amongst the characters, I found I enjoyed the story even more. I particularly liked the parallel story between Faye's parents and I felt the author described Ade's and Molly's internal debates about what to do with your life as you get older very realistic indeed. All in all, a fabulous story that has been the perfect book to read on my holiday.

Such a wealth of fascinating characters set in a glorious village in Sardinia. The twists turns as the plot unfolds keeps the reader on edge right up till the last page. Different generations with their own problems from the past yet also present day anxieties. A thoroughly enjoyable book giving insight into life in Sardinia as well as English family life. Marriage, career, travel, romance, true friendships and loyalty,it's all there as well as hatred, jealousy and death. The brutality of war in Europe is sensitively included to show the nature of the characters in Sardinia. So much accurate detail brings this book to life.
