About the Author

Having travelled extensively with his family as a young child, Simon Puttock has now settled in Scotland, from where he writes his wonderfully witty and original children's books. A former bookseller, Simon is now a full-time author who has written several picture books for Macmillan. These include WILD-WEST WINNIE (1 4050 3451 3) and DON'T COUNT YOUR CHICKENS (1 4050 3453 X). THE LITTLE OLD LADY WHO CRIED WOLF! is his second collaboration with Nicola Slater following MADEMOISELLE GORILLA (1 4050 2035 0).

Nicola Slater's humorous and distinctive artwork has appeared on both fiction covers and in picture books for Macmillan. She is the cover artist behind the phenomenally successful PRINCESS DIARIES series by Meg Cabot, and her picture books include HAVE YOU SEEN ELVIS? (0 333 98708 X) which has sold over 45,000 copies worldwide, IT'S SHOW-TIME, ELVIS! (1 4050 5328 3) and MADEMOISELLE GORILLA (1 4050 2035 0).

Format: Paperback
A wonderful book packed with humorous illustrations but what I really liked about this book was the scope for discussion that it prompted.

Ideal for story time at home but equally perfect for the classroom. This has already become a firm favourite with both myself and Little Plum (aged four and a half).

I read this book to my class and they loved it so much we ended up studying it for three weeks! They also loved performing the story and waggling their finger when telling off the naughty little old lady using funny voices! A fab read.

I picked this up for a pound in a secondhand bookshop, and my kids adore it. It is very clever, and extremely funny. It is a regular feature at bedtime from our bookshelf.
