Rosa ParksRosa hated the rules of segregation in her home of Montgomery, Alabama. One of the rules affected where she could sit on the bus. The front of the bus was reserved for white people, and the back was for black people. The middle was an overflow, but if one white person wanted to sit in the middle, all black people had to leave and stand at the back. One day, Rosa refused to move and was arrested. It sparked a public outcry, and a boycott of the public transport system. A year later, the buses became integrated! |

This book, is fantastic. So glad that I brought it for my little girl. The illustration are beautiful and information has been well presented.

So I got this for my just 4 year old boy who does like a book before bed. I've been on a quest to find books that aren't entirely full of white heterosexual middle class imagery. This had great reviews and suggested age was about 4 up.
Its a lovely book and actually I personally found it quite interesting, and informative. The illustrations are just lovely.
It is though a bit wordy for your average 4 year old reader. (Non reader) we have read the athlete ones as that's what he has chosen, and he liked those. He's a little young to understand some of the more complex words , but it's certainly one that will be referred back to over the next few years. I'll definitely be reading to my daughter when she's older too.
It makes a refreshing change to see some pages filled with strong powerful determined achieving Women.
Nice book well worth its money but id say 6 year old and upwards.
