Life affirming and encouraging book about sewing
Reviewed in the United Kingdom on 7 April 2019
My pre-ordered book arrived from Amazon this week and I have already had a good browse. I felt that the content was so encouraging and I felt cheered by the notion that my body was an engineering challenge rather than a fitting problem! The sewing advice is geared more towards beginners and improvers but that is the group most needing encouragement. This is not a "how to sew manual", though it does contain good advice - it is about the enjoyment of creating sewn garments, learning from mistakes as well as how to avoid them, and the way in which sewing can enhance our lives and make us accept ourselves.
Even pretty experienced sewers will find nuggets of wisdom and new sources of information within. I have already signed up to join a group sewing for other people and have taken on board Karen's good advice about dealing with and learning from disappointments and imperfections (and feeling proud of what I do sew).
