Product Description

Review

This indispensable book lists the most useful summer perennials. From the familiar campanulas,
delphiniums and hardy geraniums to the more obscure doronicum and centranthus, it shows
exactly how to grow each, and which are the best combinations.

(Daily Mail)

I was impressed by The Little Book of Popular Perennials ... which lists 100 perennials, all beautifully illustrated, and gives sensible advice about their cultivation. (Constance Craig Smith The Daily Mail)

Excellent photos accompany this little book of popular perennials. Each genus has a page; giving a precise cultural direction in their growth and how to treat the plant. Selected species and varieties are given as well, these are recommendations by the author. At the bottom of the descriptions, a paragraph is added on notes of the plants and this is a delight to read and gives plenty of info.
It appears the author did all the photos, but this is not made clear other than saying the cover photos are by Mrs Little. Two very popular perennials have been dropped from the book which is disappointing - helianthus 'Lemon Queen', and persicaria alpina (p. polymorpha). Both these plants are tops in most borders today.
This is another perennial book to add to my perennial bookshelf, along side Carol Klein's Favourite Plants recently purchased. Also it was great to check out another persons popular perennials against one own thoughts.

I have many gardening books and this is by far the most useful. A great book for helping to choose perennials.

It's a very nicely laid out book and it's been really helpful as a quick reference for helping to plan my new garden - really pleased i bought it. it would have been helpful to have an appendix listing the plants according to colour as well.

I chose this because most of my gardening books are out of date. I would have preferred smaller pictures and more info but it covered most of the 'currently popular' perennials adequately.
