Let me just start by saying I don't normally do romance books.

However, I love the 80s music and anything associated with it. So I wanted to see how Logan managed to insert the songs into the novel. It's probably harder than it sounds. Doing this on film where you have sound and vision is one task. It would take one great writer to make you visualise the songs when you don't have those mediums. Thankfully Sydney Logan is one such writer.

This was a lovely story about a wedding planner who meets the perfect man. After all, they both love the music of the 80s. What else do you need? Well, he needs to be single for a start. As coincidences go, I've heard of worse. I still found myself longing for the pair to get together. With all the obstacles that stand in their way, can music and love prevail? You need to read to the end to find out.

Fantastic - beautifully written and engages you in a way you might not expect. Give it a go. It's well worth a read.

Oh, my heart. I swooned when I read this book, and I’m willing to bet you will too!

The story has a few similarities with The Wedding Planner, but the plot differs greatly. Skye Douglas works as a wedding planner with her friend, while also jumping in to help her newly divorced brother with the care of his son Eli.

Although she makes a living making sure others’ big day goes smoothly, Skye herself is quite jaded when it comes to love. It is then that she meets Caleb Lynch, her nephew’s new guitar teacher, and finds herself falling head over heel. He loves music even more than Skye does, and shares her preference for 80s music.

Caleb has a secret, though, and all too soon the ugly truth is revealed, or so Skye thinks. He is the groom in the grand wedding she is currently planning. Heartbroken, Skye cuts off all contact with him, and reassigns the account to her business partner. What she doesn’t realize is that she can try to forget about Caleb, and think of numerous reasons why she’s right about this, her heart has other plans, and so has Caleb’s. She also doesn’t know his motivations for his engagement.

Luckily, Caleb is so easily deterred, and it was absolutely adorable to read how he tried to convince Skye to give him another chance. Without giving away too much, I can tell you’ll be absolutely satisfied with the outcome.

Another fun detail about this book is that the title, as well as the chapter titles, are all taken from 80s songs. Not only is this cute as can be, it is also a nice reflection of Skye and Caleb.

There was something so evocative with this book that in my opinion made it difficult not to adore. There was a softness to its edges and there were definitely edges to be found. It wasn’t all sweetness and light, it had its fair share of angst and attitude and both the story and the characters were greatly enhanced by the fact that the author allowed the book to bare its teeth when necessary.
Don’t get me wrong, this was a romance story and while it didn’t pretend to be anything else, it also never hid the fact that it has a little more hidden between the covers either.
Yes, it had a twist that was a little left field in some respects but I did admire the fact that Skye was true to her guns and when she discovered the truth about Caleb, she cut all ties and gave the project that she had been pouring her heart and soul into over to someone else, I really felt for her. I mean, she was at a place where she just might be comfortable, heading towards happy even when the world ripped the rug from beneath her.
There wasn’t a lot not to like about Skye or Caleb for that matter, it was the circumstance that gathered my irk!
Skye worked hard, her business took up most of her time and what wasn’t being occupied by helping brides to plan the most special of days, was consumed by helping her brother care for his son Eli.
So you see she really was a great girl that absolutely deserved a good man…but was Caleb that guy?
Guitar teacher Caleb’s love of 80’s music spoke to Skye’s soul, it made her happy that she had a kindred spirit but by the time the truth of his situation is revealed, I wasn’t sure that I was going to cope with either the damage his situation was inflicting on her or when the time came, why he had done it.

This is my first read by Sydney and I have to admit I loved the synopsis, it sounded so good and I couldn’t wait to get stuck right in! I was sucked straight into Skye and Caleb’s story.

Skye hasn’t had the best luck when it comes to her dating life, she doesn’t believe she will get her own happily ever after. Enter the smoking hot Caleb! The chemistry between these characters was off the charts and the connection although instant definitely didn't feel rushed!

Caleb knew how to romance a woman and also how to relate to children, some of the scenes with Eli completely melted my heart and I may have shed a few tears a time or two.

There was an instance where I thought the storyline at one point was a little predictable, that would be my only criticism about this book. Other than that I thought the characters were relatable and the story flowed well.

This book was just what I needed at the moment, it had just the right amount of drama along with some unbelievably sweet moments. It never felt rushed and although their falling in love was quick it felt natural! Will definitely be looking out for more work from this author!
