There's a map of the city included that fits neatly in the back of the book - I tend to use the book on the plane for all my planning, then just head out with the map to explore the city. There are enough historial facts and extra information covered to give you a good feel for the place and its history, but not too much that takes up too many pages. There are also things like helpful do's and don'ts and even suggestions for things to do if it's raining.
Excellent value for money, and I highly recommend them.
I'm so glad to have bought this one. I find it interesting, informative, easy to reference, full of great places to visit and seems to have been written by people who know the city very well.
If looking forward to a trip is an important part of the experience, then this book really does whet the appetite!
The guide has both a pull-out map and a more detailed street plan; both have an index, so locating venues ought to be easy.
I did also buy another publisher's pocket guide to Lisbon, but this guide is by far my favourite.
I wouldn't hesitate to recommend this guide to friends.
This is the first time I've bought a guide in this series, but if the others are as good, it won't be the last.
