Product Description

All six episodes from the second series of the BBC's lesbian drama set in Glasgow. The series follows the lives and loves of a group of 20-something friends: architect Cat (Laura Fraser), policewoman Sam (Heather Peace), actress Tess (Fiona Button) and photographer Frankie (Ruta Gedmintas). In this series, as Sam plans Cat's birthday celebrations, Cat is feeling guilty about her continuing relationship with Frankie, but events soon take an altogether more serious course...

This series is like nothing else on television. It can't be compared to the L-Word because, although both are lesbian dramas, they are so very different. I personally find the characters in Lip Service much more relatable and the storylines more gritty and true-to-life. This series is extremely different from the first. The focus is on different characters, some of which didn't appear in the first series, others of which only had minor roles. Sam is one of the main characters in this series and she is a terrific actress. I really liked the addition of Lexy, who fits in perfectly, and as usual, Tess is a joy to watch and empathise with. I was shocked at some of the storylines and admired the risks taken by the show's producers. I agree with the other reviewer that the series is too short and will be sadly missed on Friday nights while I await series 3. Long live Lip Service!

Just finished watching the season finale on BBC3 now and I have to write a review on this brilliant series. The very first episode I watched was the shocking episode 2 of this series, and I ended up watching the entire series 1 in a day and fell in love with it. Although, I don't agree with some of the things that have happened in this series I do believe that it has made it dramatic and the storylines have been brilliant. I suppose if a TV show has almost everyone talking about it - it's a good thing right? I'm really hoping that there's going to be a Season 3 because this show has so much more potential for many more brilliant seasons, one criticism is there isn't enough episodes per season!! The new addition of Lexy and making Sadie a more prominent character have been amazing decisions, both are wonderful actresses and really bring more character to the show especially Sadie I think she's brilliant. Will definitely buy and cannot wait for the next series, please let there be one!

I actually prefer S2 to S1 because I feel that the writing of S2 was much more challenging, complex and sensitive, not to mention, mixing it all up with humour, too! Because the character development was structured so well for each character, rich with fantastic dialogue & multi-dimensional personality traits, the actors automatically stepped up to the plate and performed ever so exceptionally especially how those difficult non-verbals spoke volumes, giving us viewers a front-row seat of how these characters' innermost emotions were played out. The performances were so real that I forgot that these characters were fictional. I found myself totally immersed and invested in these characters because I could relate to their characteristics, attitudes, behaviour under certain given circumstances in their lives because that's life. I'm sure we've all come across these characters through our friends, family members, neighbours, colleagues or even ourselves. It's life as we know it. It's not pretty. It's not always fine and dandy. It's a journey. It's a process. And Harriet Braun managed to give these characters such realistic depth and breathe life to them that the actors inherently became the characters they played.

I cannot wait for BBC3 to re-commission a 3rd series. It'd be criminal if it's not. I, for one, would be very upset and disappointed with BBC if there wouldn't be another series. I really want to see how these characters evolve in the next steps of their personal and professional lives.

HIGHLY RECOMMENDED!!!

Lip Service is the best series I have ever seen on TV.. It is brilliantly acted and written, and encompasses real life like stories. Sam who was brought in in the second part of part I has remained central to it all, very cleverly. In the first series she was happy but in the second series she was so unhappy. These so different parts must have been very difficult to act, but she did it perfectly.
The intenseness of it had me sitting on the edge of my seat many times, and holding my breath. Tess is kept as the amusing character, and the emergence of Lexy is very cleverly done.
I have loved every single episode and really think there should be a third series, but for more than just six weeks.

I'll keep this simple- I'm a fan of Heather Peace. I searched Amazon to see what you could purchase featuring Heather. Hence, I discovered Lip Service... WOW! WHAT A GREAT SERIES! I am so glad i bought it(also have season !)- and okay, may I'm biased but i think the best characters Re definitely Detective Sam Murray(Heather Peace) and Dr Lexy Price (Anna Skellern). In short, the storylines are ever so good, with interesting characters, and it made me wonder... was it a good point to end on a high? Or, would a Season 3 have been as good? In one moment, it made you laugh, another you were shocked/ suprised for all sorts of reasons... i can't really do the series justice by anything I say- the highlight for me was the relationship that developed between Sam and Lexy- and the funniest part was when they went to a wine tasting event- brilliant! So funny- and so well done- there is such diversity in each episode; character depth , superb acting and all I can say is full credit to everyone involved- one of the best things I've ever watched on TV!
