Adrian Mitchell is evidently writing for production and includes all the stage directions and characterisations he wants. That said the dialogue is either lifted straight from the book or is of the same calibre that CS Lewis would be proud.
The reader is with the family all the way as they investigate the back of the wardrobe and discover Narnia and all that is contained within this world.
As a member of an amateur drama group hoping to put on this production I was reading this script with a view to potential production. It was a little daunting as the writing is very tight, the cast list enormous and the inclusion of the special effects envisaged by the writer are immense. The script itself is vastly superior to any others I have read and if the reader is (like me)looking to put on this play there are ways around this aspect of the play.
Definately a good read in its own right.
*Be warned, getting hold of the CD of the songs is tricky, if you are hoping to perform it/learn the songs.
I managed to find a copy of the CD on Ebay eventually.
