Works like a dream - Cisco so you know its good

Got this to go with my Linksys wireless router with speedbooster. Works like a dream, NTL connection downstairs in my old house with thick floors and my other desktop upstairs in the bedroom - connection is excellent and speed is no different from downstairs wired in.

Doddle to install, really clear instructions and nothing to do apart from hit 'next' mostly - encryption so easy.

Its Cisco so its good.

Linksys Network gear is without a doubt the best you can buy, never had a minutes trouble with all the adapters installed on my network for the last 10 months, I highly recommend this product to work with their routers, idiot proof setup too at a price you can afford.

I have installed several devices on my wireless network and I am confident about the basics of MAC addresses, encryption and suchlike. However, I followed the instructions to the letter with this device and could not get past the point in the installation where it asked me to attach it to the computer. I tried downloading drivers from Lynksys' website but met the same problem, and spent 25 minutes (at 10p per minute!) on the helpline - again, with no success. Nothing worked. I suspect it is something to do with the 64 bit architecture on my new machine? Returned for a refund and bought a Belkin USB wireless stick that took 5 minutes to get working. Avoid.

Poor Quality and rubblish technical service

I bought this product twice, both lasted a year or two then stopped working. the first one stopped working completely within a year of purchase, so I brought it back to PCWorld and replaced it with a new one - same model. The new one lasted about 2 years then started to give me troubles. First it wouldn't find certain wireless networks. It could find my neighbours but not mine, despite the wireless router (also a Linksys one) was placed next to it. I have another 2 laptops and both can identify and connect to the network without any problem. So I thought the chances are something's wrong with the adapter. And the odd thing is that every now and then it could somehow manage to pick up my network signal and works just fine. But the next time I turn on the PC it couldn't find it again...

This almost drives my mad. Called the linksys tech support and was told that the product is out of warrenty and I have to pay £15 to get their extended tech support! Thought I could probably buy a new one with this money! Today I updated my operating system from XP to Vista and found out that the driver doesn't work on Vista. I called Linksys again to ask them if it's compatible with Vista and guess what, they asked me to pay £15 to get an answer from their extended support.....I'm almost speechless.

After all this drama, I've decided to bin this crap product and get a new one and surely I'll make sure I stay away from Linksys...

I have been unable to use the product so far due to not having the correct link for the printer I was going to attach it to. It would have been useful to have known this at the time of purchase so that I could have bought the extra lead too. However, I know the main lynksys router works beautifully so there is no reason for the adaptor not to. I will update my review when I have managed to get the appropriate lead.
