The problem with limescale is that it takes time to break down. There isn't a solution out there which can remove lime scale quickly without damaging the surface it's grown on. Therefore, taps need to be submersed in a descaling solution, allowing them time to break down the build up.

Limey does exactly that!

You simply fill Limey with your chosen descaling solution, and then slide the Limey over the end of your problem tap. The solution inside will rest inside the nozzle of the tap and break down the lime scale over a prolonged period of time. Simple! You can then take the Limey off and do the same to your next tap, and then the next one!

I didn't have high hopes I admit, But oh... my... gosh! a little bit of white vinegar and a Limey and job done!
I'm very pleased , my tap , being a bath mixer tap, it was a bit big for this isze Limey, but i was determined not to buy the bigger one, i have waited long enough!!! (OK! it was overnight by prime, but I'm not a patient person)
Which makes this Limey perfect! i popped it on (pulling it on the tap with all ones might turning pink in the process) and by morning, perfect tap!

This size fits the basin taps perfectly, pops on like a carrier bag on a door handle,
but for a whopping bath mixer tap? I was pulling with the might of Thor to get it on!
but I DID get it on (that saved a tenner for the next size up... go me!)
It is silicone made so stretches, and it didn't tear even with me having a go with it.
Highly recommended!

If this fits the majority of taps then my taps are in a minority. I half filled the Limey with white vinegar and struggled to get it over one type of hand basin tap. Each time some of the vinegar spilled out. When, after the umpteenth time of trying, I managed to stretch it enough to get it to stay on, it was in a horizontal position and was practically empty. I tried the other type of hand basin tap and I was able to fit it over the end. However, the tap barely entered the Limey so there was no possibility of immersion. I tried the kitchen tap and managed to fit it on - the bulb now at 45 degrees to the horizontal. A definite improvement, or so I thought although I had no way of knowing if there was any contact with the vinegar. As I was pondering on this the Limey quickly and spontaneously ballooned and shot off the tap, hitting me in the chest and firing vinegar in the opposite direction.

This item might work well if your taps have a significantly long downward facing spout but for my taps it definitely doesn't so I will be returning it.

Update: I have since returned the item and obtained a full refund. The seller, Heritage Home and Garden, processed the refund promptly, courteously, and without fuss.

This is a great little innovation that helps me fight the pesky limescale on my taps without endless scrubbing. It used to feel like a hopeless task in my hard water area. Now I just use white vinegar inside the gadget on every tap in the house so often and they are shiny and clean.

I find that the cap fits well over several differentl sizes and shapes of tap, including the large mixer in the kitchen. There is no mess or waste of cleaning products.

Seems a lot of money for what you get but it certainly does the trick.Just fill it with white vinegar and fix onto tap. Easy peasy.
Update: Out of desperation I had paid around £7 for mine when I saw the gunk coming from my tap sometimes. Now they sell for about 3 or 4 pounds they represent excellent value for the job they do.

Fiddly but works a treat

This wee baggy was VERY fiddly to get to fit on to my taps.

But once I worked that out, half filled the bag with Kilrock gel and left for 5 minutes, then removed (carefully!) and brushed the tap most of the limescale went. A second application and brush removed it all.

Bit pricey for what it is IMO, but it does the trick which applying gel and brushing on its own had not managed.

This is a rather expensive piece of plastic. Having said that, it's a well designed piece of plastic that does the job rather better than any alternative I have found. I have a variety of taps (tall kitchen spouts, wider shallow hand basin taps and larger bath taps) and, half filled with white vinegar, it removed all the limescale from all of them. Unlike other reviewers I found it could be stretched to fit all of my taps and it stayed put once on. Very happy with my purchase, despite the expense!

I’m sure I’m not the only one who has tried one leaking contraption after another. I was buying vinegar when this also showed up, and I couldn’t be more grateful. Fill it with whatever limescale remover you use, push it gently in place and leave it on. No need to check to make sure it’s not leaking or coming off the tap. Even on the straight tap in the kitchen it stayed on overnight. Cleaning line scale on the end of the tapes no longer feels like a fight with gravity.
