I took two or three session to get past the first chapter, it was packed with information
and my mind was not on the job to decipher all that was happening so I laid it aside until later. When I did relax and read it properly I found that the plot fairly belted along with dramatic happenings on almost every page. It is very well written, I enjoyed it and I finished it in one read. Excellent!!
I understand that this is the author's first novel and I recommend it.
I gave it 4 stars, the reason:-
The first chapter is too fast. If you read this book read the first chapter twice to get the gist of what is about to happen, once you get the rhythm, it's good. An alternative would be a Preface to explain the times the action is happening.

It is an excellent read and I recommend it to you.

This was my first e-book, downloaded for ipad kindle app.

Once I'd figured out how to put kindle on my ipad, I was really pleased at how nicely it works, so if your put off by the 'e' bit - don't be!

I could have genuinely read this in one go, its a lovely really easy read, and is pretty thought provoking without being depressingly so.

The story is not something I would usually choose (being a crime novel geek), but I loved it and found the characters compelling and the whole book to be a real page turner (but with enough natural chapter breaks to put it down if you absolutely need to!).

My only critique is that I wasn't ready to stop reading it and could have happily read about the next few years after the book finished..... perhaps a sequel will be written Shelley Poole?!

I really enjoyed this book, a great story imagining what might happen in the future if the ultra right wing ever makes it to power, as seen through the eyes of a young boy and his family who are of Polish decent (and living in constant threat of being discovered), as well as the privileged teenage son of a political leader, and the teacher of the local 'noncitz' children.

With an interesting and engaging story, and some amusing current observations which translate well into future England, the book is easy to read and very enjoyable. Thought provoking and and great value for money - I highly recommend it. :)
