Review

Ms. Hardt has a way of writing that makes me forget I'm reading a book. It's more like slipping into a world she created and getting lost for a while.- Tiger Lily, Whipped Cream Reviews

The writing was fast paced, and HOT for an historical romance...with lots of chemistry between Daniel and Lily, and lots of fun on Lily's part! There was the requisite drama, well played out. The characters were full of fun, laughter, mischief and of course some hot sexy! - Bound by Books

"You know when you find an absolute gem of a read that stays with you, days after you've finished it. This book is that gem."--Bare Naked Words

I enjoyed the story of Lily and the Duke. Romance and lust in a period story are always good reads! Ive started reading the 2nd book Rose in Bloom which is just as good.

I don't give two figs, love that phrase from Lily. Well Daniel meets her at fourteen, then again at his house party. He arranged to meet the dreadful malicious bitch Amelia but grabbed Lily in stead, they grow close together, loved it when she got her gifts from Daniel, brandy her puppy was the best although the veneer rubies and truffles come second. It isn't until Amelia pushes Lily down some stairs that Daniel realised he's truly in love with Lily, her in breeding causes concern but Daniel I s her rock, look out for her,. Eventually she makes a full recovery, wedding night they make his heir. Fantastic book couldn't put it down.

Just finished reading this beautifully written, sizziling rompathon & did so in 3 days flat (I'm a full time working mum so that's impressive!)
A sexy, well written novel WITH an ACTUAL storyline.
You fall in love with the main characters completely.
Route for them.
Love the scandal.
The accuracy of the ways in which marriage & love worked in those times is duely noted.
The description of every characters dress particulary pleased me.
I personally think I'm going to be more of a Cam girl than a Dan; cannot wait for 'Rose in Bloom'!
Hoorah Helen Hardt!
Keep 'em coming!!!!
Love

You know when you find an absolute gem of a read that stays with you, days after you've finished it. This book is that gem. I fell in love with 'Lily and the Duke' from the offset and got so absorbed in to it, my world fell away from me; everything ceased to exist apart from this book. I felt as though I was living in 1845, and experiencing what Lady Lily and co were experiencing.

Lady Lily is a stunning, fire-cracker of a woman who would rather paint or write than search for a husband, or as she likes to put it "shackle myself to some peer and become his breeder."

That is the only reason she is excited to be attending the house party. The grounds are astonishingly beautiful to paint and rumour has is the new Duke, Daniel Farnsworth is in possession of a painting by her favourite artist...Which she must see.

It is while Lady Lily is gallivanting around the property in search of this painting, that she is taken aback by a stranger grabbing a hold of her, pulling her in to a dark corner and kissing her senseless....literally.

That stranger being the Duke himself. Mistaking her for someone else, but not regretting it at all. From that moment sparks begin to fly.

"Good God, he didn't even know her, yet his reaction to her was one he had never expected. He hadn't thought there was anything new to experience with women. He had been wrong."

From that night, The Duke and Lily begin to become more acquainted with each other. Their quick forming relationship will have you reaching for the ice, and have you clutching your heart. Their ease with each other is noticeable and they find themselves opening their hearts to one another without even thinking.

But Lily still has reservations. She isn't interested in becoming a wife.

nothing like 50 shades of grey, was a good read but I wouldn't say it was brill, story line made a good drama, but words like' Babe' sort of took the Victorian time away as I wouldn't expect them to say such words in those days.

Because I don't get much free time I haven't completely finished reading this book yet. However, the half that I have read makes very interesting reading and I would definately reccomend it.
