4.0 out of 5 stars Suspenseful and Interesting Mystery! 3 July 2016
By Susan Barton - Published on Amazon.com
Format: Kindle Edition Verified Purchase
Cassie Jennings is a twenty five year old locksmith living in a small town where everyone knows one another and murders just don’t happen. Chance Martin is a city detective who recently relocates to Cassie’s little town. When the two meet, sparks fly but Chance is forced to keep his distance. The owner of the Lilliput Bar has just been found murdered and Chance is assigned to the case. A series of circumstances puts Cassie at the murder scene and she quickly becomes a suspect. Instead of dating Cassie, Chance is now forced to investigate her.

I love books that put a female in the leading role. Cassie Jennings is a likable and believable character. Chance Martin is appealing and real. The chemistry between the two was convincing and I wanted to see these two characters get together.

I thought the sex was slightly saucier than what I’ve read in most other books labeled “cozy”. Yet, I wouldn’t say it was overly graphic. The plot is well thought out and intricate enough to have kept me guessing throughout. The family drama was well written and believable. I’d have to say that Ms. Curry spins a compelling tale. It was a quick read, but there was plenty of action packed within the book’s 208 pages.

The tiny “issue” I had was with POV, which varied often. Alternating POV isn’t a bad thing by any means. In this book, it was necessary so that readers could to see the story unfold from the POV of police and also from the POV of the main character, Cassie. I just think it would have been better if POV stayed the same within each chapter, but it didn’t. Yet, this certainly never ruined the story.

If you’re looking for a suspenseful murder mystery that includes family secrets, jealousy and greed, with a good side of romance then I can recommend The Lilliput Bar Mystery.

I enjoyed this book, characters are likeable and you can be drawn into the story. Some of the situations I thought were rather far fetched. Has a lot of twists and turns.

Liked the characters and storyline. Could use a little character development and background description. Felt a little flat but I enjoyed it and will read the next one
