This is a well-written and rather sweet book along the lines of Pretty Woman, that's the second book in the Housemates series, though it can be read as a standalone (which I've done, not having read book 1).

It does have a rather predictable tale and ending, but it's one of those books where I was happy to go with the flow, and expect the expected, as the characters had warmth and seemed genuine. It's got quite a few pretty hot and sexy scenes and more than once I felt a pang in my chest as the author revealed both leads' emotions whenever cold, hard cash got discussed. I liked seeing that both were equally enamoured of the other and that both their feelings came through.

It would have been a 5* read had there not been several little things that the editor/content editor could have picked up on and clarified, that took me out of the tale several times. Still, it's a nice read and a Keeper.

This is the second book in the Housemates series and this time we get to find out all about Josh. Sah-woon!

I loved Josh from the start in the first book but this was an eye opener to find out about his ‘hook ups’ were him being an escort. Rawr! I love escort stories. Josh was doing it for the money to see him through university, after all how could he finance his studies by working all hours in a bar or a supermarket and study. With doing a couple of escort jobs a week he would make quadruple the money in a fraction of work time. It is whilst he is at the bar waiting for one of his regulars that he see the sexy redhead stood at the bar. When his regular fails to turn up he looks to not waste the night and see if he can make the gorgeous guy his next paying client.

Rupert has been stood up but he had noticed the hot guy checking him out via the bar mirror, when he starts to walk over to him, Rupert thinks his luck has changed and he is in for a sexy night but what a shock when he is asked to pay for it! Not to be deterred Rupert agrees. Then we get down and dirty with this sexy pair!

I just loved the build-up of sexual tension and chemistry in that bar that started the wheels of a steamy ride of a book throughout the rest of the story. There was plenty of angst and despair also thrown in to deliver a balanced storyline. I did wonder how this was going to pan out as the paid for sex sessions turned into something more and eventually a love story. How would they get over how they met and the money already exchanged which then had me anxious to see if there would be a HEA after all? But I needn’t have worried as Jay does as Jay can do and gave a believable and reasonable outcome to Josh and Rupert’s story.

I love Jay's writing and this one is no exception. Its hot and tender and sweet.

I loved Josh in Helping Hand and couldn't wait to read his story.
I really liked Rupert and Jay did a great job with him. I felt for him, I was jealous and frustrated on his behalf, I totally shared his emotions.
But...
I also understood Josh. His need to work and make money, his reluctance to have anything other than a client/escort relationship.
My heart hurt for both of them.

The writing is, as always, great and I really enjoyed the dual PoV.
Absolutely recommended, it gave me a serious case of the feels.

He looked at Josh now, and he still wanted him just as much, but his feelings had morphed into something new. Something so much more than desire alone.'

We met Josh in book one, he seemed distant and a little mysterious and this is his book and we get to know him more. Him being an escort explains his mysterious behaviour. He has no one to rely on and he likes sex so why not charge for it? Stood up one night by one of his clients is when he meets Rupert, who has also been stood up by a date. Rupert is an IT guy and one night while he's stood up he notices Josh. When Josh let's him know they can sleep together. For a price. Rupert never done anything like this before, but it's only for one night so why not?

'That thought was satisfying in a way Rupert could never have anticipated. Owning another person, buying the right to touch them. Who knew that would turn him on so much? But he’d been half-hard ever since Josh had named his price.'
“Are you ready to leave?”

Josh hasn't had it exactly easy, his parents far from role models and having to pretty much survive on his own but he's far from a victim. He's just taken things into his own hands and getting by the way he chooses to. Being an escort he never bothered him, he's single and likes sex so the worry of it being a problem in a relationship never worried him. Until now. He tells himself no matter how much his feelings towards Rupert grow that it will never work but he just can't cut himself off from him. Instead, he gets in deeper.

'He didn’t know what Rupert thought about it, but he wasn’t just a client to Josh, not anymore.'

Rupert was cute! He had inheritance from his father's death so he had the money for Josh and he definitely didn't hold back on spending it to spend time with Josh.
