The second half is a pure reference section giving you lots of different lighting set ups and how it looks on different models from one, to two or more light set-ups, and various different modifiers. Its not a section you'd want to read cover to cover but is fantastic to flick through when you're looking for a particular style or mood.
Its slightly more inclined towards art/fashion photography rather than day-to-day portrait photography but still useful. While it still covers clever techniques such using multiple gels and/or gobos I was still left feeling that this book is only about using well-established technique and doesn't really encourage you to experiment with new/unusual set ups. My only other criticism is that there are a few pages about camera settings and how to use them. I imagine the vast majority of people who would be interested in this book already know how to use aperture and shutter speed settings so those pages seem wasted.
I can not recommend this book highly enough, it is excellent.
The text / page does not scale very well on the Kindle app either.
Purely on the text quality I cannot recommend this book.
The book assumes very little prior knowledge and takes you from the ground up.
I purchased the Kindle version (which is a steal at the price), the text and presentation looked fine on my Macbook.
I wish Rossella Vanon would write more books.

EVERY SERIOUS PHOTOGRAPH SHOULD HAVE IT!!!
It give many many examples how to use light!
I just can recommend who want to learn and understand studio lightening more!
