Product Description

The Grandpas Fire Fork from Light My Fire is inspired by an ingenious design and is destined to become a modern classic. Use it to grill marshmallows and hot dogs or just about anything else you can come up with. Attaches firmly to practically any stick; no need to cut fresh branches. Also makes a great firepoker.

These are just great. We already own four and I have just bought an additional one to add to my son's Duke of Edinburgh kit. They are so simple (I did hesitate about reviewing what is, essentially, a piece of bent wire!) but they really do work. All you need to find on your camping expedition (or at your beach campfire) is a reasonably straight stick to use with it. The wire part is effectively spring loaded so that it really grips onto the stick once it is inserted through the two holes. You can then use it to cook sausages, marshmallows etc over the BBQ or campfire. We have warmed bread rolls and, our favourite, jelly babies too! When not in use the metal prongs are protected by the plastic cover. They take up so little room in your kit compared to a 'proper' firework too. My kids love searching for suitable sticks to use with it and my pen-knife mad son loves to whittle the ends to the right diameter if the chosen sticks are a little too thick. If I had a slight criticism it would be that you do need to find sticks of the right diameter. Too thin and the grip will not be sufficient. Too thick and you won't get the stick through the holes. That having been said, it has yet to cause us a problem.

OK. I haven't used this yet but I have to admit I bought it in a moment of weakness. I love BBQ's, camping, cooking on a fire etc. and ordered this the minute I saw it. When this item was delivered, I thought 'you must have been mad to pay more than £5 for a piece of wire. if you wanted to give one to each child at a BBQ, so they could all cook a sausage at the same time, it could work out expensive! In reality, you could probably make a fork by cutting up a wire coat-hanger into sections and make 5 or 6 forks to fix to the ends of sticks. That could even be a little project you do with the kids before you pass out the sausages.

This is the second one I've bought. Great fun toasting marshmallows on the fire with a stick, safe in the knowledge it's still pretty hygienic. They worked brilliantly and were much safer than the kebab sticks that others bought (they kept setting alight).
